I stepped off the train when I heard the screech of the wheels and felt it coming to a stop. It was 9:00 a.m. and I didn't have to be at work today until 1:00. I popped into a small café called Sorelle.

It was a cute little brick walled restaurant. The menu was full of baked goods, soups, salads, and sandwiches. Every bring looked so good that I didn't know what to get so I ordered a coffee and sat down at a little wood table. I pulled out my laptop and started working on editing some pictures for my photography classes. Photography is my passion. I'm currently a sophomore majoring in photography and minoring in creative writing. Today, Monday March 2nd was the first Monday of spring break. Sadly, I couldn't spend it at home or on vacation. Instead I had to spend spring break working.

That's okay though. I love what I do. Today, for example, I got called to take wedding pictures for a friend. Wedding pictures are the best because all of the smiles are completely genuine, which means that the bride and groom will look 10 times better. The wedding is actually tomorrow, but the rehearsal is tonight so I have to be ready then. I walked outside and used my Canon to take pictures of some tulips outside.

When I walked inside I decided to treat myself to a sweet tea since I felt so good. You know how when you look good you feel good? My makeup was done lightly and I wore a coral dress and an off- white cardigan with some studded white sandals. I looked good.

I had my cup of tea and was heading over to the table to sit down when I collided with a guy about my age. My tea flew backwards and so did I, but unlike me tea, I didn't hit the floor. The guy I had plowed into had grabbed my waist and kept me from falling. "Uh thanks and uh sorry." I muttered apologetically. "Sawyer." He held out his hand. "Sophie." I smiled and shook his hand. I gazed at him a bit longer than I should have, and awkwardly went back to my table.

Damn. He was pretty cute. I missed my shot at finding a guy too. I didn't even get a sweet tea either. I would have to cross by his table to order another one, so I decided to not even bother at that point. Sawyer. I let my mind wander for a few minutes when a voice pulled me back into reality. "Sorry about your sweet tea." "Oh uh- um thanks" I stammered as he set down a fresh tea.

You could say I wasn't the best at talking to guys. He smiled at me and I noticed his emerald green eyes. I allowed myself to get lost in them for a few seconds, but decided not to embarrass myself again. I looked at the floor, suddenly finding it very interesting. When I looked up I noticed he was standing there a bit awkwardly as well, scratching the back of his neck like he wanted to say something, but he didn't. He smiled and gave a half wave as he walked back to his table.

I decided I should be brave, how was I gonna find a guy if an opportunity came up and I didn't take it? I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Here goes nothing. "Hey, Sawyer?" He looked up, half surprised I was there, half happy I was... I think. "Hey Sophie. What's up?" "I was wondering if you wanted to, uh- maybe, um--" "I'd love to." He interrupted, saving me from my stammering. "You don't even know what I was gonna say." I said suddenly becoming more comfortable around him. "Well then I guess I was hoping you were going to ask to spend more time with me."

I could feel my cheeks getting red, and I looked at the floor. I'd never had this happen before. I was awkward with him, but he didn't leave me, he actually wanted to spend time with me.

I blushed madly. "I'd like that." In another burst of courage I asked for his number, hoping I wasn't making things awkward. Knowing me I probably was. I sat down at his table and before I knew it, we were talking like old friends, just catching up. I found out that he was a Junior, focusing on writing. I couldn't help but smile when he told me that. He looked like a writer. He had cute glasses and a beat up journal that looked like he took it everywhere. He probably did.

"Sophie?" He asked. "What's up?" I responded. "Your phone just went off." He looked at me. "Oh uh thanks." Apparently I was too busy day dreaming about Sawyer to notice. When I looked down at my phone I noticed the time. 1:43. 1:43!! "Oh my god Sawyer I'm so sorry I'm late!" I exclaimed getting up and throwing all my stuff into my bag. "Um I'll text you." I told him and ran out the door. I looked back to see him standing there running his hands through his hair with a smile on his face. I hope that was because of me.

What was I thinking? He was the reason I was late. I mean, it was my fault, but I was distracted by him! Because damn. Who wouldn't be?
