Sebastian Sallow had noticed the changes in James Calloway—the sleepless nights, the distant gaze, the heaviness that seemed to weigh him down with each passing day. He knew that something was wrong, that James was struggling beneath the weight of his own thoughts, and he couldn't stand idly by and watch his friend suffer.

One evening, as they sat together in the Gryffindor common room, Sebastian approached James, his expression filled with concern.

"James, we need to talk," Sebastian said, his voice gentle but firm.

James looked up, his eyes weary but filled with gratitude. "Sebastian, I..."

But before he could finish his sentence, Sebastian held up a hand, cutting him off. "You don't have to say anything, James. I can see that you're hurting, and I want to help."

James felt a lump form in his throat, overwhelmed by Sebastian's kindness and understanding. He had always seen Sebastian as a rival, a Slytherin with whom he had clashed more times than he could count. But in that moment, he realized that Sebastian was more than just a rival—he was a friend, someone who genuinely cared about his well-being.

With a sense of gratitude, James nodded, his voice barely a whisper. "Thank you, Sebastian. I... I don't know what's wrong with me. I feel like I'm losing control, like the darkness inside me is consuming me from within."

Sebastian's eyes softened, his gaze filled with empathy. "You're not alone, James. We'll get through this together, I promise."

With Sebastian's support, James began to open up about the struggles he had been facing—the nightmares that haunted his sleep, the overwhelming sense of despair that seemed to follow him wherever he went. And with each word he spoke, he felt a weight lift from his shoulders, a sense of relief flooding through him as he unburdened himself of the secrets he had been carrying for so long.

Sebastian listened patiently, offering words of comfort and encouragement as James poured out his heart. He shared stories of his own struggles, of the darkness he had faced and overcome, and together, they formed a bond stronger than any rivalry could ever break.

As they sat together in the quiet of the common room, James felt a gleam of hopw within him, Sebastian was actually helping him for once, instead of bickering with him. And it felt nice to know they weren't rivals. Instead, they were best friends.
