Hi folks! Thank you for picking up my book, I sincerely hope you enjoy it.

I know, I know, I'm supposed to be working on 'The Legend of Medio the Sylveon' rn, but this story popped into my head so vividly I thought it would be a shame to let it go to waste. Still, please don't expect chapters to come out frequently, even if I wish I could write faster, I really can't! Plus, I have other stories I'd like to devote my attention to.

If you weren't aware, this story is technically a prequel to the rewrite of my old and discontinued pokemon fic. But given that I'm writing this before I actually finish that story, you don't have to read it before this one. The main character of this story, Midwinter's Sorrow (and some of his companions), will simply appear later in Medio's story as side characters.

There is two things I'd like to clear up before we begin. First, I would like to mention that one of the characters in this story-Hooksfinn, Midwinter's older sibling- uses both she/her and he/him pronouns and is supposed to be bigender. I'll be blunt, if you're going to be an asshole about that, get off my page.

Second, The pokemon in this story have last names! The naming system usually varies from pokemon to pokemon but for the eeveelution line the basic idea of it is this:

(Copypasted from my art book)

Pokemon names are comprised of a first name and family name. Family names are for the most part matrilinear, but there are some exceptions. Like for example, Medio himself, and his older sister Nymphy. Their family name is Rosenburg , which they inherited from their father, Moth.

First names vary from species to species. But for eeveelutions, they are given a very simple name at birth (e. g. Tiny, Silver, Fluffy) and later pick out a name for themselves when they figure out what they want to evolve into. Their family may still refer to them by their birthnames as a term of endearment or nickname.
