“She was right fucking there!” Aria shouted as she paced across the floor. She's been doing this since Nadia aka Athena, left.

I genuinely believe that was her, but do you know the amount of people who claimed to be Athena and wasn't?

I hate that look of disappointment and hurt that comes across their faces.

All they want is for their sister to come home, that's what Aria wished for every birthday.

Aria hardly even celebrates her birthday anymore, the fact that it's next month kinda hurts my heart.

She had been so fixated on finding Athena before her 19th birthday, and now who knows if we even did.

“That wasn't her.” I muttered, wiping down the counter.

I mean, of course that was her, but I don't want to get their hopes up in case it wasn't.

Aria stopped pacing and looked straight at me, her eyes boring into mine as I felt the anger radiating off of her.

“Yes it was, I know it.”

Ever since Athena was taken Aria convinced herself that she's still alive, and that she can actually feel her.

I didn't know what to believe.

Surely, the kidnappers wouldn't just take her and kill her.

But, it doesn't sound right that they just took her for no reason.

Not to use her as bait, or leverage.

To just have her.

“Aria, you two are twins. Don't you think she'd look just like you?”

When I laid eyes on her, there was no doubt in my mind that she wasn't Athena.

But, the look of confusion on her face when I called her proves she has no memory of when she was a kid.

She has no memory of any of us.

And if that is Athena, Aria will surely scare her away.

We need actual proof that she was Athena.

“She did, Damian.” She replied, her voice hard.

Aria hates when people say she's wrong about anything.

“She has blonde hair and blue eyes, Aria. You're not a blue eyed blonde, now are you?”

She rolled her eyes and pushed past me out the door, sighing I finished sweeping up the floor.

“You really think that wasn't her?” Adira asked as she put on her hoodie.

I sighed.

“Of course I do, but Aria has been disappointed so many times when she thought she found her. I'm trying to protect her feelings.”

“Aria doesn't need you to protect her feelings, Damian. She just wants her sister, we all do.” Adira grabbed her keys from off the hanger on the wall.

“And if that was Athena, we need to figure that out. Lord knows what these people are doing to her.”

After Adira left, I stayed behind for a little while before huffing and heading home.

It's late and all I want to do is sleep.

~~~
“Wait, wait. Let me get this shit straight, you think you saw her?”
I ended up telling everybody what happened last night, and nobody can quite believe us.
“Yes, Dad.” I replied, pouring myself a cup of coffee.
