Fireworks

(y/n) sat quietly on the tailgate of her uncle's truck. She was waiting patiently as dusk was slowly trickling into the sky. July fourth, the most 'Murican holiday ever. Fireworks and beers and guns and everything else. Of course, (y/n) didn't really do much beer. She was only 25. But it was fun taking perhaps some alcohol. She was jolted out of her thoughts when her best friend, Tom, hopped up to sit on her right side. Her other best friend, Andrew, plopped down on her other side. The two were brothers. "So, (n/n), wassup? Gonna see if the Doc's TARDIS is exploding up there?" She shoved Andy playfully. "Shut up. You suck." Tom put his arm over her shoulders. "We're just messin', bro. We know how much you fancy that British guy. No worries."

(y/n) felt a flush creep up her neck. "I don't fancy him! He's just a friend... a really..really.. good friend." "Who you cuddle with." Tom added. "And have kissed." Andrew interjected. She shoved the two. "I'm going to get a mountain dew, you douches better not do anything stupid." She stood up, grinning. Tom and Andy raised their hands in a symbol. "Girl scout promise." They said in unison. (y/n) rolled her eyes, padding away. She finally made it to the back porch. No other person was there. With a sigh, she started rummaging through the cooler, searching for the green can. After a while, she finally found the cool aluminum. She grasped it, wincing at the coldness, and pulled it out. Looking down at it, (y/n) turned and started down the steps. But she didn't finish her route for the tall, gangly shape in which she barreled into, sending the cold can flying down the steps. The person wrapped their arms around her, righting her footing. "I'm terribly sorry! I didn't hear anyone arrive! Are you oka-" The mysterious man let out a familiar laugh. "I thought you knew the TARDIS's sound by heart, (n/n)." The Doctor flicked her nose. "Naughty. Letting your guard down."

She let out a gasp. "Doctor!" She yelled, looking up to see his silvery green optics looking down at her with an amused glow. "In the flesh. Happy 4th of July, (y/n)! You Americans really do know how to show your nationality. So much red, white, and blue... Anyway," the Time Lord slid his fingers under her chin, forcing her face near his. "I missed you." The words ghosted over her lips before he crashed his mouth against hers, pushing her into the wooden railing of the stairs. Faintly beyond the sudden haze, (y/n) could faintly detect crashing and flashing lights, probably the fireworks. Too bad, this was infinitely better then fireworks. To multiple degrees of infinity.
