Maya-

Today is the day, we made it!

It's the final day of school before a two week holiday. Maya is in school today and I'm so thankful as the last two days have been excruciatingly long. We have a half day today and finish school at 12pm - that leaves us more time to spend with Cam as I haven't seen him since Halloween.

"I'm a little nervous about meeting Cams friend", i say to Maya hoping she will reassure me. It's because I'm not good around people I've never met. My brother knows this so I'm hoping that he has pre-warned Nathan that i may not be the most talkative. "I don't even know what he looks like!"

"Well... you will be happy to know that when I was off sick I had all the time in the world so, I did some digging. I looked on Cams' instagram, then his followers and found Nate." She says totally calm as if that's not at all stalker-ish. "Do you want to see?" She asks nudging her phone into my hand, as she pulls up In front of the school.

"Maya this does not at all help!"
As I'm observing his profile I see that he is 19, two years older than me and he plays the Forwards position on the hockey team. However in all of his pictures he is either got his helmet on and face grate down or it's a team picture and I can't make out any faces, not that I would know which one he is anyway.

"Oh well, that's the best I could find!" Maya states, a bit irritated by my reaction.

"Well, I mean in about 3 and a half hours I will see for myself."

We are now strolling through the halls making our way to the assembly that is always held before a Holliday. Most people haven't came in today as we don't have a full day, and they don't want to sit through this excruciatingly long assembly.

We have just arrived outside the hall where the assembly is held. I notice Max leant against one of the lockers and our eyes lock. He starts wandering over to where we are stood and Maya nudges me with her elbow. My eyes pull away from his, and switch to meet Mayas, to see that she's giving me a, what's going on sort of look.

"Hey Pheobe" he says giving me a Smile.

"Hi max" I try to sound excited but it comes out sounding quite flat.

"What do you want?" Maya says, the judgement thick.

"I just came to ask if I could sit with you, as most of the guys aren't in today"

"Go and ask someone else! Im sure that there are plenty of girls you could pick from, with the amount you date"  Max choose to ignore her snide remark, which leaves me not really knowing how to answer as I don't want to say yes if Maya is not okay with it. She nods towards him, as if saying that I need to answer.

"Umm, yeah I guess. As long as that's okay with you Maya."

"Yeah I guess. But Pheobe you're in the middle."
She announces, walking to our seats.

Through the whole assembly Max was mocking the people surrounding us and the teachers presenting and speaking. He was commenting on peoples appearances and how they looked - I'm sure some of them even heard him.

It just made me wonder if people comment on me and how I look. I'm constantly criticising myself but I don't like the thought of others doing it.

I'm a pretty average girl, standard blonde hair and I try not to wear outfits that will draw me any attention. My thighs are bigger than most so I can never wear shorts or else they rub when I'm walking and I will never have the confidence to be one of those girls who's wardrobes only consist of crop tops.

I would love to be, but it won't ever happen.

I wish my stomach was flatter and I didn't have to overheat wearing sweaters in the summer, but it's okay because I don't usually go out that much anyway.

On our way home we have to take a detour and stop off at Mayas house as she needs to grab her stuff. Her house is only about 10 minutes from mine.

She lives with her mom, dad, and younger sister, and as soon as I open their from door I hear a high pitch squeal and all I see is a ball of energy charging towards me.

Aurelia is instantly clinging on to my leg as if her life depends on it. "Beebee! I missed you" she coos.

"I missed you" I say as I pick her up and give her a tight hug. "You're getting so big now!"

"Yeah I know. Mommy said we need to go shopping for new clothes as I'm too tall" she sounds so excited.

As I make my way further into the house Maya runs upstairs to grab her things and I'm greeted to the smell of cookies. Emily, Mayas mom is in the kitchen, and by the look of it has just finished baking.

"Ahh, hello. It's my favourite Campbell, still as beautiful as ever". I have to put Aurelia down, much to her dismay, however she runs off somewhere and Emily pulls me into a tight, heartfelt hug.

"How's school going?" She asks.

"It's fine, just school you know; long, boring". I say with a grin on my face.

"Well it will be over before you know it! Any boyfriends yet?"

"Well not really, this one boy in my English class did ask for my number the other day and sat by us is the assembly earlier. But he doesn't like me like that" I explain

"He definately has a thing for you!" Maya chirps in from halfway down the staircase, lugging one extremely large suitcase.

"Eavesdropping by any chance" I question

"Well of course!" She says out of breath, finally reaching the bottom on the stairs.

"Maya do you seriously need all of that for just two weeks, you do realise we only live 10 minutes away and you can always come back for more" Emily questions. They start arguing in Spanish and from the tone in Mayas voice she is trying to defend herself from her mother's scolding.

"Right, Phoebe, let's go!"

Maya gets away as fast as possible considering her massive suitcase. I follow behind but stop to say goodbye to Emily on the way and she gives me a kiss on the forehead.

"Have a good time" I hear her shout as I shut the car door behind me.

I love how close Phoebe is with Mayas mom. The next chapter we will meet Cam and his Friend. I hope you enjoyed. ❣️
