Marinette POV:
I sat in the back of the class, miserable as always. I glanced at the bruise marks on my arms, that were covered by my black sweater.
My name is Marinette Dupan-Chang, and I live the worst life possible. There was this girl in my class named Lila. She absolutely hated me for seeing past the lies that she spreads. She has lied to the class and made up so many stupid lies about me that the stupid class now hates me.
The word hate is an understatement. They DESPISE me with their lives. One day it's that I stole someone's camera. Another day is I spilled water on someone's homework. They even believe that I copy off their tests when I sit in the back of the class, all alone.
But the idiotic teachers can't see it. In fact they even believe Lila. They don't listen to a word I say, or when I show them bruises.
"You tripped Marinette." One said.
"You probably slipped on something since your so clumsy." Another said.
They are actually stupid.
But that was nothing compared what my old friends would do. They would hit, punch, kick, slap, do everything in their power to make my life awful. They would even rip up my homework so I could get a zero.
Anyways, I focused my attention to the Mrs. Bustier.
"So class, first things first we have a new student."
As if on que, a boy walked into the classroom.
He had messy black hair, that looked amazing. He had the most beautiful pair of green eyes. They were dark, but kind of like a forest green. But they held a fierce and strong glare, as if expecting anyone to jump up and fight him. But he wore a navy hoodie and black sweats.
"Class, meet Damion James." Mrs. Bustier said, placing a hand on his shoulder. Though he didn't seem to care as he scanned the class. "He is from Gotham City and will be staying with us until the end of the school year. Damion go sit next to Marinette in the back."
I flushed as the class glared at me.
I avoided looking into Adriens cold eyes. The boy who I loved had turned on me in less than a second. Therefore we weren't friends, and I don't think we ever will be ever again.
Damian sat down beside me and payed zero attention to me. I sighed, knowing he had probably heard the rumors. We both payed attention to Mrs. Bustier.
"Now, speaking of Gotham. Next Monday our class is taking a school trip and for two weeks. We will be learning about the history of the hero's and villains there."
Everyone cheered but me and Damian.
"Are you okay?" A voice said beside me.
I turned my head to find myself staring into his eyes.
"Why wouldn't I be?"
He slowly took my hand and lifted up the sleeve of my sweater. Out of instinct I quickly grabbed my arm, wincing in pain. His expression softened and showed sympathy.
I sighed and let him lift my sleeve. He frowned at the bruises.
"What happened?" He asked, anger rising.
"It's not that-"
"Marinette, I want to help you. What happened?"
I stared into his eyes. "How do I know if I could trust you?"
His expression softened. "If you could trust anyone in this class it's me. If it's this class, know that I have been in this situation before too. I just want to help."
I gave a small smile and nodded.
"You see that girl in the front with the brown hair." I pointed at Lila and he nodded. "She spreads so many stupid lies that everyone believes. So she decided to make my life miserable by spreading lies to everyone. Saying that I stole their stuff and things like that. Now the whole class hates me, and does things like..."
He sighed and nodded.
"Well who needs them?" He said, his eyes turning hard as he scanned the class. "All you need is one friend who will be there for you, and that's me."
I blushed crimson. "Thanks."
He smiled. "Anytime."
We both looked back at the lesson, instantly getting bored by it.
"Wanna hang out after school?" He asked.
It took me all my will power not to squeal.
"Sure!"
"Maybe you could show me around Paris? Today is my first day."
I nodded.
"So where do you want to go?" I asked Damian.
He shrugged and adjusted his backpack as we walked out of school.
He opened his mouth to speak, but a devils voice cut him off.
"Damian!" Lila's voice called.
Damian frowned at the girl who ran up next to him.
"Do I know you?" He asked, making me smile slightly.
Lila flushed.
"I suppose you don't. My name is Lila Rossi, and this is Alya." She said , gesturing to my format best friend beside her. "We just wanted to give you a heads up about Marinette and how big of a bully she is."
"The only bully here is you Lila." Damian shot at her, making her gasp and me sniffle a laugh.
"How dare you?" Alya snarled.
Damian's eyes flared, but I instantly placed my hand over his chest.
"Don't argue," I whispered in his ear. "We will expose her when time comes."
He sighed and nodded.
"Damian why would you call me a bully?" Lila asked, shedding crocodile tears.
"That's not cool," Alya added.
Damian glanced at me, his expression softening.
"I'm sorry Lila for calling you a bully," Damian mumbled. "I didn't mean to offend you."
Damian still looked hard as ice, but gasped in shock when Lila leaped up and hugged him, pushing me away from him.
"It's okay Damian, I forgive you." She gasped.
I rolled my eyes as she side eyed me from the hug.
But she pulled away with a fake smile.
"Bye bye Damian." She said, and her and Alya walked out.
Then that left the two of us, alone.
