The literature class was in full swing, with the professor passionately lecturing about the intricacies of Shakespearean sonnets. Aratrika sat near the front, her notebook open and pen poised as she diligently took notes, her attention fully focused on the lesson.
Meanwhile, at the back of the classroom, Shubman struggled to keep up, his mind wandering as he doodled absentmindedly in the margins of his notebook. His thoughts were consumed by the upcoming cricket match, and he found it difficult to concentrate on the lesson at hand.
The professor, noticing Shubman's lack of focus, furrowed his brow in concern. He knew Shubman was a talented athlete, but he couldn't let his academic performance suffer as a result.
Determined to help him succeed, the professor made a decision.
"Mr. Gill," the professor called out, his voice cutting through the chatter of the classroom. "I'd like to see you in my office after class. We need to discuss your academic progress."
Shubman's heart sank as he heard the professor's stern tone. He knew he had been slacking off in class lately, but he hadn't realized just how noticeable it had become. With a sense of trepidation, he nodded in acknowledgment and forced himself to focus on the remainder of the lesson.
After class, Shubman made his way to the professor's office, his stomach churning with anxiety. He knocked tentatively on the door before stepping inside, unsure of what to expect.
The professor sat behind his desk, a stack of papers in front of him. He looked up as Shubman entered, his expression stern but not unkind.
"Mr. Gill, I'm concerned about your performance in class. You're one of our top ranking students," the professor began, his tone serious.
"It's clear that you've been struggling to keep up, and I can't let that continue."
Shubman nodded, feeling a pang of guilt at the disappointment in the professor's eyes. "I know, sir. I've been trying to balance my academics with cricket practice, but it hasn't been easy."
The professor sighed, understanding shining in his eyes. "I understand, Mr. Gill, but I can't let you fall behind. That's why I've decided to assign you a tutor."
Shubman's eyes widened in surprise at the professor's announcement. "A tutor? But who—"
Before he could finish his question, the professor interrupted, a knowing smile playing on his lips. "I've selected Ms. Vishwanath to be your tutor. She's the top ranking student in the class, and I believe she'll be able to help you catch up on any topics you've been struggling with."
