My Privileged Sun

One morning the sun rose from the clouds,
Its glow dispelling my doubts.
I live in five-minute increments,
Before I ruin myself with irritants.
The only way to survive
Is to keep pretending, that I am alive,
That every second, the world isn't ending.

I live my privileged way,
Another average day,
Without thinking who is suffering,
Across the waves or down the street.
The earth is too dead to save,
And the evil too big to defeat.

How do you balance inner thoughts and daily loss,
While society takes its toll,
And you're attacked by the faceless troll?
He once had to hide his scheme,
Until that platform entered our bloodstream.
It tears us all apart
As long as it leaves you feeling smart

Can we lift the right voices high,
So we can still get by?
I am not what the world needs to see,
But at least today,
The sun still rises for me.
