"Hey, Dee! What's up?" a man greets me named Zyon, he sits across me.I am at the cafe near the filming site where we are filming our next movie. I am done filming my part today, so I am taking a break and waiting for my manager. This guy here is my co-worker and he is late as usual.
I took a sip of the coffee that I ordered a while ago.
"Hey, Zy. You're late. Did you party again last night?" I asked him. He is known for his party-goer demeanor."Oh, come on, Dee. Mamayang hapon pa raw shooting ng part ko sabi ni direk. And I tell you, last night was fun! You're missing so much fun. There are a lot of babes there!.. and handsome men," he said vauntingly. I shook my head. I don't like that kind of party. They are just ruining their image. Nagtataka nga ako't hindi pa ito nagkakaroon ng scandal. Kung sa bagay, his company is also well-known and is backing him up. He is also talented actor and model.
"Ah! May nasagap nga pala akong chismis." aniya. He leaned closer, rested his elbow on the table with fingers clasped together, resting his chin on it. I looked away, not interested in what he will say. I'm not into gossips.
I can feel he's staring at me. "Kahit tungkol kay Director Von Stein?" he whispered. Napapintig ang aking tenga pero hindi ko pinahalatang interesado ako. I glanced around to make sure no one could hear it. Walang masyadong tao, lilima lang siguro kaming naroon, including the barista at the counter. Nasa medyo malayong bahagi kami ng cafe.
"I know it!" he chuckled. This fucker really knows what interests me. I glared at him.
"Shut up!" I glared at him. He just put up both his hands, surrendering.
"Anyways, I saw him last night. I think he is searching for someone to sponsor, and guess what! Colin is going for it! Colin, your rival! I'm telling you," he continues. What nonsense. I shook my head, not believing him. I took a sip at my coffee. Did he really?
"Bro! Come on. Do you think I would lie to you about him when he is your role model? He is the reason why you became an actor, right?"
I sighed.
He is right. The reason why I became an actor was 9 years ago. I can clearly remember that time when I saw him on screen. I was 16 at that time; my friends invited me to see a movie. I am not really into movies.
"Come on, Deo. Please?" one of my friends pleads with me to go with them. Our other friends surrounding us are staring at me, hoping I would go with them.
We are at the mall right now, playing arcade games, when Vashti suggests that we see a movie together.
"It's an action movie, you know," he explains. They all nod in agreement. They're too soft for Vashti... and so am I. I sighed.
"Fine. Just this one time," I said, giving in. They won't leave me alone until I agree.
"Yay! This is gonna be fun!" he exclaimed. He starts to walk, and then Han and Jasper follow him towards the cinema.
Ryker put his arm around my shoulder, and we walked together towards the cinema.
Just like Vashti said, it was an action movie, a thriller, and a mystery. It was interesting.
"Did you know that actor is a child actor? He debuted on acting when he was three! Can you believe that?" Vashti whispered looking at the screen. Nakaupo ito sa gitna namin ni Han. Jasper is sitting beside Han, followed by Vashti, myself, and Ryker.
"Well, his family is well-known. I think his grandfather is an owner of the SR Entertainment," si Ryker, sitting on my right side.
"Yes, he is, but the child actor started making money on his own when he was three. His grandfather is well-known for being strict. They say the actor's family was cast off by the grandfather himself. He won the 'Best Child Actor' award when he was four. By keeping his name known to the people, he became really popular. That's when his grandfather acknowledged him as his successor, but he turned it down," Vashti explained. I grabbed some popcorn, keeping my gaze on the screen.
I can see why he became popular; he seems like he was born to be an actor. His role is that of an officer who becomes part of law enforcement but acts like a spy. He is searching for his lover's killer to bring her justice. The killer is also part of the higher-ups.
"Paano mo nalaman lahat ng 'yan?" nagtatakang tanong ni Jasper. Vashti just shrugged.
My favorite part is the ending scene, where he finally found justice for her. He smiles, gazing at her grave, but I can still see the sadness in his eyes.
I can feel tears welling up in my eyes.
"Akala ko ba action lang 'to?" si Han.
"How sad. Still, justice is served," Jasper commented.
After that day, I saw my older sister, who is interested in idols, watching a movie in the living room. The actor is in it. I think he's a side character, and I can see that he is a bit younger there.
And I hear her say his name often, as if she were fangirling over an idol.
One day, when I searched his name on the internet, I found some information about him. Gaya nga ng sabi ni Vashti, he was three years old when he debuted. He received his first award when he was four, winning the 'Best Child Actor', and 'People's Choice Award' when he was eight.
Iba-ibang role din ang kaniyang kinukuha mapa-drama, action, thriller at romance.
I saw him once when they were filming near our school, that's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. He has this aura about him that I can't explain. I saw how he acted, and that's when I realized I want to be like him, an actor.
I dream of becoming an actor alongside him, wanting to be in a movie with him.
When I turned 21, I started auditioning. But when I finally became an actor myself, my dream shattered when I heard the news that he would be on hiatus for an unknown reason.
So, that's why I don't want to waste my chance this time.
