Y/N stood at the entrance of Seoul High School, her heart pounding with a mix of anxiety and determination. A fresh start, she reminded herself. This was her chance to leave the past behind and focus on her future. Taking a deep breath, she stepped inside, clutching her backpack tightly.

The halls were already bustling with students, each one lost in their own conversations and routines. Y/N navigated through the crowd, her eyes scanning for the administration office. She needed to collect her schedule and find her locker before the first bell rang.

As she walked, she couldn't help but notice the cliques that had already formed. Athletes, cheerleaders, nerds, and everything in between. High school politics at its finest. Y/N sighed, hoping to find her own place without too much trouble.

After collecting her schedule and locker assignment, she made her way to the locker area. As she fumbled with the lock, trying to get the combination right, she felt a presence behind her. Turning around, she came face to face with a group of students, their expressions a mix of amusement and curiosity.

"Hey there, new girl," a tall, blond boy said, leaning casually against the locker next to hers. His eyes sparkled with mischief, and his confident demeanor suggested he was someone important. "Having trouble?"

Y/N's cheeks flushed with embarrassment. "No, I'm fine," she muttered, finally managing to open her locker. She began to place her books inside, hoping they would lose interest and move on.

"Don't mind Hyunjin," a girl with dyed pink hair said, giving her a sympathetic smile. "He's just messing with you."

Hyunjin grinned, clearly enjoying the attention. "So, what's your name, new girl?"

"Y/N," she replied, trying to keep her voice steady.

"Welcome to Seoul High, Y/N," Hyunjin said, still smiling. "I'm Hyunjin, and this is my crew. If you need anything, just let us know."

Y/N nodded, unsure how to respond. She had a feeling that Hyunjin's offer wasn't entirely genuine, but she appreciated the gesture nonetheless. "Thanks."

As Hyunjin and his friends walked away, Y/N couldn't shake the feeling that she had just been marked. She had seen enough teen dramas to know how these things worked. The popular kids always had a way of making their presence known, and Hyunjin seemed to be at the top of the food chain.

Her first few classes went by in a blur. The teachers introduced themselves, outlined the syllabus, and assigned seats. Y/N did her best to pay attention, but her mind kept drifting back to her encounter with Hyunjin. There was something about him that intrigued her, though she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

During lunch, Y/N found a quiet spot in the courtyard and pulled out her book. She had always preferred reading to socializing, and this seemed like the perfect way to escape the chaos of the school day. As she immersed herself in the story, she felt a shadow fall over her.

"Mind if I join you?" Hyunjin's voice broke through her concentration.

Startled, Y/N looked up to see him standing there, a tray of food in his hands. "Um, sure," she said, unsure of why he was seeking her out again.

Hyunjin sat down across from her, setting his tray on the table. "You always eat alone?" he asked, taking a bite of his sandwich.

"I just prefer it that way," Y/N replied, closing her book. "It's quieter."

Hyunjin nodded, studying her with an intensity that made her uncomfortable. "You're different from the other new students."

"Is that a bad thing?" Y/N asked, raising an eyebrow.

He chuckled. "Not necessarily. Just means you're not as easy to figure out."

Y/N wasn't sure how to respond to that, so she simply shrugged. "I guess."

They ate in silence for a while, the noise of the courtyard fading into the background. Despite her initial apprehension, Y/N found herself relaxing slightly in Hyunjin's presence. He wasn't as intimidating as she had first thought, though she still couldn't fully trust him.

As the lunch period came to an end, Hyunjin stood up, grabbing his tray. "See you around, Y/N."

"Yeah, see you," she replied, watching him walk away. She couldn't shake the feeling that this was just the beginning of something complicated.

The rest of the day passed without incident, and Y/N managed to avoid any more unexpected encounters with Hyunjin or his friends. By the time the final bell rang, she was ready to go home and decompress.

As she walked to the bus stop, she noticed Hyunjin leaning against a lamppost, his expression unreadable. "Need a ride?" he called out.

Y/N hesitated, unsure if accepting his offer was a good idea. "No, thanks. I can manage."

Hyunjin shrugged, pushing himself off the lamppost. "Suit yourself. Just thought I'd offer."

As she boarded the bus, Y/N couldn't help but glance back at Hyunjin. He watched her with a look that was equal parts curiosity and something else she couldn't identify. She turned away, her mind racing with questions.

What did Hyunjin want from her? And why did he seem so interested in a girl who just wanted to blend into the background? As the bus pulled away from the school, Y/N knew one thing for sure: her new beginning was going to be anything but ordinary.
