Once Upon A Time

When my friends told me that my boyfriend was perfect, I used to laugh and giggle but never denied it. 

I mean the man is gorgeous. Blue eyes, italian nose and full lips with a trained body and even plays one of my favorite instruments. He constantly put me on a pedestal, admired me and worshipped me. What more can I ask for right?

That was two years ago...now all of that changed, he became distant, mean and was judgemental. 

He tried to avoid me in all ways when i wanted to talk it out and soon after that we broke up, but you know what is the craziest part? He still is my best friend, I mean we both are still our best friends. Two years is no joke and in those years together we did grow and eventually just outgrew each other, I can't blame him for that, I have to admit I've also been very neglectful of myself and stopped the personal growth for a while so now that we decided to take some time off we've agreed on working on ourselves. So long story short, we did talk it out and still ended on good terms.

Miles stared at the window of the bus she was on, hoping that life wouldn't give her anymore surprises, she barely handled this one so how could she handle more.

"Hun, we finally found a better job!" Her mother excitedly said almost jumping from excitement

"Well that's fantastic" She said waiting for her mom to go on but instead of being happy, her body froze seeing her mom's expression

"It's in Milan...and I'm sorry hun but we think it's a lot better than the job we have now. The pay is higher and not to mention public transport there is so much better and it's on time, you surely won't have to worry about that anymore-"

"I don't think I should go." She firmly stated 

"Please don't be that way, this is going to be good for us" 

"I'm twenty I can't just leave now, I have a life here and my friends, I can't possibly just leave this all behind and what about my university...you're not thinking this through"

"We are, are you suggesting living by yourself? You know your father and I will never agree at least not now...you're too young and I did some research your University has a branch in Milan"

"Can you just for now leave my room, I'll have to think about this but you should also consider my argument"

As her mother closed her room's door she laid on her bed defeated, once again life was doing it's thing and all she could do was watch as it took control of her.

A few days passed since that day and she thought of it really good for days and she thought that the best plan was leave for a bit, a change of scenery will do her good and what else was she going to lose? She talked things out with her friends and they also had a plan of going to Milan for a better income or study, and for her ex or best friend, he hated the thought of her leaving but he supported her for her career, since that is what they agreed upon. Leaving was still hard, it was as if she was cutting a thread and potentially was going to lose something important and every time she heard her best friend say 'don't leave' or 'i'll miss you' it made her feel bad...

But this was for her career so whatever happened it was for her sake.

She thought of it as she packed her last suitcase and until the last moment she doubted herself thinking if this was the right decision...not knowing how this new chapter was going to unfold.
