Today is the day. Tonight I will play.

I put on my uniform, it's cold and tight against my skin. I tie my hair into a bun. I look in the mirror. My gaze moves from my feet to my face. Even though Lyria said we don't need the mask anymore, I'm still thinking about taking it with me. I hesitate at first, but then put the mask in my side pocket.

Slowly and carefully, I leave my room.
It's the middle of the night and only a few people from The Night are still in the building. Usually, I would be one of the many people resting now that Lyria announced that we would all be playing tomorrow.
Lyria has a very strict plan about when, where and who of us will play. Still, I want to help Elentya, my best friend, to find her brother.

If he's alive.

However I should do that, since I never get much information from her.
I think I'm just looking for a person who has similarities with her. Besides, my visa is almost expired again, so it won't hurt if I play tonight.

"Exactly Midnight, we meet behind the building. I found a car that works, I'll drive us to the games."

Midnight.
Behind the building.

I leave the building and look around.
No one here. Then I turn around to see if there is anyone behind me. Then I make my way behind the building. There's not much here, just a few huge garbage cans. I can still see traces of blood on the floor, which is not uncommon for Borderland. Between the cracks in the stone floor there are thin blades of grass. I can see all of that. I notice the smallest things. But who I don't see is Elentya. Just before I left my room it was about five minutes before midnight.

I don't see a car either, which is what Elentya was talking about.

Did she lie to me?

Did she...

What if she...

Suddenly I feel two hands hastily on my shoulders which makes me flinch. I stab the person behind me in the stomach with my elbow until I no longer feel the grip on my shoulders.
I pull a small dagger from the side pocket of my waist and hold it ready to attack as I turn around.
I don't see anyone, but I hear a small sound. My gaze wanders downwards.

Elentya.

„N..Not bad."

She sits there and holds her stomach with her arm. Elentya starts laughing, but I can hear the pain in her voice.

"Are you crazy??"

I walk over to her and help her up.

"It's the middle of the night, neither of us are supposed to be here and you come up with the wonderful idea of scaring me?!"

„Yep. It was quite funny until you hit me."

„I fucking hate you."

„No you don't."

She is now standing but still holding her stomach and her back is slightly arched.
After a few moments, she slowly straightens her back again and lets her hand slip from her stomach.

"I somehow don't regret hitting you."

"I don't hold it against you either."

Elentya then slowly looks up at me with a proud smile. Then she puts her hands on her hips.

"Ready to play?"

"Yeah, yeah. Can you take us to the car now?"

She rolls her eyes and makes some kind of movement with her hand.

"Oh god, I never can have fun with you."

She then begins to walk further behind the building as her hands slide into her pockets. Elentya always does that, a kind of a habit.
I follow her with quick steps and keep my eyes peeled for the car she was talking about.
