Rekindled

Earl Johnson was engaged to his high school sweetheart, Clarissa Myers, the couple was inseparable. He was madly in love with her, and she was madly in love with him. The couple even shared an apartment together while planning their wedding together. Sadly, in the midst of planning their wedding, a virus outbreak happened which shut the entire world down. It forced the nation into quarantine.

Sadly, the world never recovered, and the virus wiped out 95% of the human population. Earl survived but lost his wife to the virus. Earl was devastated, he lost his lover, best friend and soulmate. Earl was lost everybody he knew from family to friends they all was gone. Earl gave Charissa a proper burial and stayed at the apartment, hoping GOD would send him a sign.

It's been a week since the extinction and that sign never came, but depression sure crept up on Earl and was clearly getting the best of him. He missed Charissa so much, he felt it was time for him to join her. Earl cannot live another day without Charissa nor his family, so he decided to kill himself tomorrow.

The next day arrived and Earl jumped in his car and was making his way to this valley where there's a cliff he was going to drive his car off. Driving with tears in his eyes, he abruptly stopped his car in the middle of the road. Earl thought his eyes were deceiving him, so he got out the car to get a closer look and saw a woman lying in the middle of the road. Earl checked for a pulse and she was definitely alive. Earl picks her up and puts her in his car and drives back home.

Earl takes her upstairs to his 3rd floor apartment where he lied her down. He prepared food for her, leaving it by her bedside. The estranged woman finally wakes up an hour early, looking around herself looking confused. She looked to her left side and noticed someone left food on a plate for her. She then got up and started looking through the apartment until she saw Earl sleeping on the couch.

Suzana: hey!

Earl: (Pops up!)

Suzana: who are you?!

Earl: I'm Earl... Earl Johnson...

Suzana: I'm Suzana Carl...

Earl: why were you laying on the road like that?

Suzana: my anxiety flared up and i passed out... hate when that shit happens.

Earl: yeah, it sucks, my fiancé had bad anxiety.

Suzana: that's her in that picture?

Earl: yes...

Suzana: she's beautiful.

Earl: yeah... she was definitely a sight to look at.

Suzana: I was married... I feel so incomplete without him... (getting emotional)

Earl: I know the feeling, when I found you... I was actually on my way to end it all...

Suzana: I can't lie, I thought about it too... but I just couldn't bring myself to it.

Earl: I don't know, I can't do it anymore.

Suzana: would your fiancé want you to off yourself?

Earl: well... no but, why continue living when there's nothing to live for?

Suzana: I think you found your purpose when you found me...

Earl: it's funny you say that because the other day I begged GOD to give me a sign, show me something... and then I found you.

Suzana: and you're still here.

Earl: yes, I am. (Chuckling)

Suzana: you have a car?
