I am not sure what just happened. I mean the bad blood between Charlotte and Lindsey is nothing new and entirely Brody's fault but that seemed cruel even to me. I look at Charlie who seems completely unbothered by what just occurred.
"she nearly burnt me alive. For what? Brody?" She snorts.
But even as she says it fear passes through her eyes. And something tells me it was not just Brody cheating that pushed Lindsey over the edge ten years ago. But it is clear whatever it was, he has no idea.
I stand up and follow the path of my wife and my friend.
I find them on the deck outback sitting on the swing.
"are you alright?" I ask sitting beside them.
"it's pathetic that she still manages to get under my skin." Lindsey sighs.
"Stop that." Catherine scolds.
"who cares if she did not want to play the stupid game? She did not have to be callous." I state.
"exactly." Catherine agrees.
Lindsey forces a smile and stands up.
"thank you. Both. I am going to lie down for a bit." When she disappears, I turn to Catherine.
"the weight of the shit she's been through is dragging her down."
"I'm worried." She sighs.
