I stood on the deck, frozen to the Spot. The message, I had just received, was playing over and over again in my head. It was a simple message, yet its implications were absolutely horrifying. It was a warning from my brother Silencer. Silencer never speaks, he had taken an oath to keep silent for all eternity. Him breaking this oath was shocking and could only mean that the situation was dire. The message read: "This universe is dead; they activated the collapse weapon." I looked out through my commander spaceship's window, through space. My eye zoomed in through the void and... I saw it. It was a strange contraption of flesh and metal, pulsing faster and faster. Multiple rings were spinning around it, swirling in sickening patterns. I had never seen such a device before, but I knew exactly what that abomination was. I knew exactly what was about to happen... and I was terrified. I hadn't felt this feeling in a long time, this weakness... I hated it.
There was no time to waste, death and destruction were imminent. I spread my claws and plunged my fingers into the ship's control computer. The device caved in beneath the pressure and was crushed by the force of the impact. I spread my veins throughout the hardware and took over the device, my mind becoming one with the ship. I had only one goal, one desire, and I executed it. As soon as I activated the machine that would be my salvation, I ran. The computer was ripped from the deck, its biomechanical innards spilling over the floor. Other precious pieces of equipment were destroyed by the debris, as my soldiers watched in disarray, confused by my erratic actions. I didn't care, this was all irrelevant.
I deployed and locked my battle mask around my face as I rammed through the 1-meter thick door. I continued my rampage throughout the corridors, my antlers and claws making short work of any obstacle that stood in my way, whether it be a blast door, a wall or one of my soldiers. All were torn to shreds in my escape. I did not feel any morbid satisfaction or regret for my actions. All of this, everything in this ship will soon be irrelevant, even worse... erased from reality itself.
I continued my mad dash through my ship, running on all fours to gain momentum like an animal. I finally burst through the doors I was looking for.
I disgracefully tumbled into a massive room, the second biggest on this ship, after the drop bay. A beautiful yet alien device stood at its centre, its massive frame occupying the entire room. It was formed by two arches on its sides and multiple rods floated around it, sending surges of energy to its centre. A blue mass had started forming and expanding in its core. It had worked, the inter-universal portal had been activated, the bridge would soon be opened.
This device was never meant to be activated this fast, and usually took days to properly stabilise. I could already see the extent of the damage such a rapid activation had caused, blue vein like tendrils were spreading around the room, consuming everything in their path. Many of my soldiers had been assimilated by those vile appendages, their energy feeding the mechanical beast. Their sacrifice would not be in vain.
I sprinted forwards, dodging the tentacles as they swarmed before me. I had no time to deploy my battleaxe and had to resort to my claws and teeth. I bit, tore, and broke through those abominations as I got closer and closer to the portal. How much more time did I have, minutes? Seconds? How much longer before everything would end?
Using my back thrusters, I jumped over the mess of deadly vines and dove into the portal.
