That night, Lily and James were murdered by Lord Voldemort, making Harry the only baby that has survived the Avada Kedavra curse. Making him the boy who lived.

Since they thought that the attack was close to the Order's meeting place, they never suspected that it was a distraction that Voldemort created in order to get to James and Lily Potter.

They got to the Potters house too late and Harry was sent to the Dursley's that same night.

The Finley's were the ones who suspected it, since Evelyn couldn't stop crying. It was as if she was the one in pain and Jane was so stressed out, she had to go to Dumbledore's again and ask him what was happening. They were desperate because their daughter was feeling a pain that wasn't hers.

"It's not her pain. That's why you can't do anything about it." He explained, although they knew one of the symptoms of the bond was that they had telepathy and could feel the others emotion, they were not expecting that to be so real. "This only means one thing, the Potters are in danger."

And with that, Dombuldore left them alone, with a crying Evelyn, with no idea how to calm her down and it was a very restless night.

~~~ 11 years later ~~~
It was the first year at Hogwarts for Evelyn. Jane and Peter were as happy and proud as they could be.
That was the case for them, however, Evelyn felt nervous. She didn't know what to expect and it was going to be the first time she would spend so much time away from her parents.
Sure, she's been in the Dursley's home for a few hours to keep Harry company, but nothing more than that. She still has no idea that she's bonded to him. Whenever he feels sad, she feels sad and viceversa. All they've thought about it is that they just cared a lot about each other since they've grown together but has never thought more about it.
Evelyn however, have thought it has been weird that her parents always asks her how Harry is doing or how she's feeling about Harry. They are always asking her about him and it stresses her out sometimes. She just wishes they would care a bit more for her and not that much about Harry.
"You'll do great sweetie. It doesn't matter which house you'll be in, I know you're going to be just as happy." That first part was sweet, Evelyn thought. But then she continued "But hopefully is in Gryffindor so you can be with Harry. We are sure Harry will be in Gryffindor too like his parents. But you, you could either be in Gryffindor because of me or Hufflepuff because of your dad."
All she could do was nod and hug her as she also went to hug her dad. "Just have fun and learn a lot, okay?" He was always more understanding on her feelings, making her feel more safe.
Evelyn saw Harry and they both said "hi" to each other as they hugged. They sat at the train together while Evelyn waved goodbye to her parents and Harry also said goodbye to Jane and Peter.
Evelyn saw that he has already made a friend called Ron Whisley who sat with them in the train. He was quiet funny, thought Evelyn as he saw him eating all the snacks not much later after Harry bought them all from the trolley.
That year Harry had his little trio group formed by Ron and Hermione that were all in Gryffindor. Evelyn got into Hufflepuff but that didn't stop her from being with the trio from time to time and since Harry felt at home with Evelyn, he told her everything.
She experienced the pain he had when he faced Voldemort through professor Quirrell. Although she wanted to help him more, they both decided that it was something Harry needed to do by himself.
Once she experienced that pain, she couldn't help but have a feeling that there was something else going on and she had to ask her parents about it. She decided not to tell Harry anything, since it would probably freak him out, so she hide her pain.
Once the year was over and they went back home for the summer, she had the courage to ask her mom. However, she was very weird about it and Evelyn knew she didn't tell her the truth because it made her mom feel bad. They did something to Harry and Evelyn when they were little and Jane couldn't bring herself to tell Evelyn yet. "You're too young. You're not ready for it." She said, making Evelyn stressed out but stopped asking since she always got the same answer.
Evelyn knew the pain she felt that night was Harry's because when Harry told her all the story, she felt the fire around her like Harry did, she felt the strange sensation in her hands when Harry touched professor Quirrell. She felt every single thing. So close that she almost passed out like Harry did. Almost, but somehow she didn't.
Why could she feel Harry's pain so intense as if it was her own? If she got hurt... would Harry feel it too?
"Hey, what's on your mind?" Harry asked one day that they were in her room over the summer break.
"Uh? Nothing, sorry, were you saying something?" Harry wasn't buying it, he has felt her being more distant from him lately and he wanted to know why. Has he done something wrong?
"You know you can't lie to me Eve, you're a horrible lier." He stated, making Evelyn stress out a bit more.
"Can we just... not talk about it?"
"It's been like this since that night that I fought professor Quirrell- or well, Voldemort-" Evelyn flinch at the name, making Harry a bit angry. "You know you don't need to be afraid of the name-"
"Yes yes because that just makes him stronger, but can you blame me? He's back." She explained, so she was able to go to another topic, so he would forget about what she was thinking.
"He's not really back-"
"He's out there Harry. He's being getting stronger ever since that night and everyone thought he was dead. Now he's looking for a way to come back again and not just to come back but to come and kill you." She said as tears formed in her eyes. She couldn't help it, now that she's let it all out, she came to her senses that she's being hiding that feeling all this time.
The feeling of being scared.
"Hey hey, if I'm not scared, you shouldn't be scared either." He said as he pulled her closer to him while they were sitting down at the edge of the bed. She let out a shaky breathe, as she tried to calm down with Harry's heartbeat.
After all, he was like a brother to her. Although they didn't exactly grew up in the same house, she knew everything about him and he knew everything about her.
"How do you do that?" She asked her, as she sniffed since she had some tears that escaped her eyes.
"Do what?"
"This, being all brave." She stated as she wrapped her arms around his waist, pulling him closer.
"Oh- uh I guess it's the gryffindor in me." He explained. "How do you do this?"
"Do what?" Now she was confused, she didn't know what he meant.
"Cry all of a sudden." He chuckled when he saw her expression of drama on her face.
"Hey! I'm a hufflepuff okay? It's in my nature being dramatic." Since he couldn't stop laughing at Evelyn's face she ended up pushing him off the bed, making Harry groan.
"Ouch! That hurt you know?" He said as he was messaging a part of his bum in which he fell down.
"Sorry! Do you need help?" She asked as she extended her arm so he could stand up. He did take it and pulled her to him so she would fall down too. "Harry!" She said with a gasp but ended up laughing wih him on the floor.
Harry pulled her closer again, so now they were both lying on the floor looking at the ceiling, her head resting on Harry's chest, while Harry's arms surrounded Evelyn's waist.
He always managed to make her feel better.
"You see? Nothing, no one, not even the dark lord, can take this away from us." He said to her, making her smile a bit. Hopefully he's right. Because she couldn't leave without Harry.
