Tw: Death.
Also MC has an asthma attack. Heads up for any of my asthmatic friends who might find that a bit triggering. I wouldn't want you to panic and trigger an attack.
lol I've laughed too hard before and triggered an asthma attack, so we all know it's a bit unpredictable.
Ha ha. Hahahahahahahaha OH NO. WHERE'S MY INHALER.
Natalie's turn on watch was more eventful than Vice's. When he woke her to switch, he had told her Kyros had just slept the entire time, but what was happening now clearly wasn't sleeping.
"Can I help you?" Natalie fearfully asked as Kyros dragged her down the hallway.
Kyros glanced over his shoulder and flashed her a grin. "Oh, no thanks. I've already taken care of things."
He dragged her to a set of doors and pushed them open. Natalie took that as her opportunity to bolt away, only to immediately have her arm twisted behind her back as she was pinned to his front.
Natalie kicked the back of his knees like she had been taught, lunging to the side to throw him off balance. She made it around ten strides away before she was grabbed again.
"Where do you think you're going?" Kyros chuckled as he dragged her out the doors, onto a balcony.
The wind whipped her hair around her face, sending flakes of snow into her eyes. He pressed her up against the railing of the balcony, fisting her hair so she looked out over the mountains.
"Why are you doing this?" Natalie threw an elbow back, striking his nose with it. She heard a satisfying crack that made her face split into a vicious smile.
"My brother didn't deserve to die!" Kyros seethed. "Your sister fucking murdered him!"
"Well my sister's a traitor, so I hate her too! Killing me would only please her!" Natalie exclaimed. "Why do you think I'm here? My father and sister both betrayed Decian, so I had to prove I was loyal!"
Kyros hesitated before shaking his head. "I won't fall for your lies."
His fingers dug into her arms as he prepared to toss her over the railing.
"Hey, dumbass!"
He spun around, using Natalie to block any incoming attacks. "Who the fuck are you?"
Cassandra lifted her chin. "Get away from her."
Kyros tilted his head. "I don't think I will."
Cassandra's hand went down to her boot, and she pulled a dagger out. She held it up, pointing it at his throat. "Get away from her."
Natalie stomped on his foot, and when he was still surprised, she knocked her head back onto his injured nose. He fell off balance, and his fingers brushed her cheek as he tumbled off the balcony.
Natalie's eyes widened as she watched him hit the ground, far, far below. Blood trickled into the snow around him, staining it red.
"You okay?" Cassandra softly asked, tapping Natalie's shoulder.
"Yeah." Natalie swallowed. "I'm okay."
"I won't tell anyone about this if you won't. They don't have to know what happened to him. You can just say he took a walk in the night and didn't come back." Cassandra slipped the dagger back to where it had come.
"Thank you." Natalie considered the situation for a moment before asking, "How did you find us?"
"I heard you screaming," Cassandra answered. "And we should probably go back to our rooms before we get caught out in the halls."
