"Wake the fuck up" a deep voice says disturbing my sleep making me groan and bury my face in my pillow before freezing.
Wait. I live alone.
Lifting my head I relax when I recognize Ryder, my older brother.
"What are you doing here?" I get out of bed and throw my arms around him, hugging him.
"I was enjoying the peace and quiet with you gone but Mom and Dad missed you so they dragged Lily and I up here with them" he rolls his eyes.
"Asshole" I smack the back of his head.
"Brat" he mutters, finally hugging me back.
"You've missed me don't lie" I chuckle as we let go of each other.
"Maybe I did a little bit" he replies reluctantly, making me smile.
Ryder and I may be brother and sister but he's my best friends. I've missed his ugly face.
"Did you guys use the spare key under the welcome mat to get in? And where's Lily and the parentals?" I ask, my eyebrows furrowing, guessing they remembered the spare key I had told them about.
"Yeah we did and Mom and Dad went shopping and got you food so Lily and them are putting it away. They tasked me with waking you up" he answers.
"Aw they got me food? I'm so clearly the favorite" I smile smugly.
"You wish" Ryder scoffs, turning and walking out of my bedroom, making me laugh as I follow him.
"Oh there she is!" Mom exclaims happily once Ryder and I reach the kitchen.
"Hi mom" I smile wide walking into her open arms and she hugs me tightly.
"Stop hogging her woman" Dad grunts, lightly shoving Mom and engulfing me in a hug.
"And how's my favorite high schooler?" I grin at Lily untangling myself from Dad's hold and going over to her to give her a hug as well.
"Same old same old" she shrugs. "Max and Daphne broke up again" she tells me, making me roll my eyes as we pull apart.
"Again?" What happened this time?" I press for details.
Lily and I love to gossip about the people in her school. She reminds me of myself when I was 17.
I give her advice all the time for all sorts of things ranging from boys, to schoolwork, and friends.
"She caught Max kissing the new girl in the janitor's closet. She says she's done with him for sure this time but we all know that's a lie and that they'll probably get back together next week" she smiles.
Toxic relationship sign number one right there.
"When is that girl going to realize she deserves better and to stop forgiving him and see that he isn't going to change?" I sigh, shaking my head.
Then again who am I to talk? I let Jason get away with a lot. Subtle remarks about my body, my friends, my art. But I woke up and realized I didn't deserve how he was treating me.
"God I do not miss high school" I laugh.
"Okay let's sit and you can tell us all about how your job is going" Mom says ushering us to the couch.
Oh no we are going to be stuck here for hours with how Mom asks questions whenever one of us does something new. Lord help me.
"I told you to search for a woman that's in New York that has dark long hair and pretty brown eyes that's named Holland and has the nickname Holly" I grip the bridge of my nose as I talk with Mitch.
"This is not her" I state looking at the woman on my phone screen.
"Are you sure?" Mitch asks, peering at the photo.
"What color is this woman's hair?" I ask flatly.
"Blonde" Mitch answers.
"What's her name?" I point to the username.
"Lauren" Mitch replies.
"Then it's not her, is it?" I deadpan.
"Just keep looking" I grunt, handing him his phone and he walks off.
Why is it so hard to track someone down?
Where are you Holland?
"What's got your panties in a twist?" Nathan asks as him and the rest of the guys jump off the stage and approach me.
"If I tell you, you guys can't laugh or make fun of me. Got it?" I say seriously, raising a brow.
"Of course man" Derrick says and I hesitate for a moment.
"I met a girl" I state and they stay quiet, glancing at each other before bursting into laughter.
"Um Mav you've already discovered the female gender" Nathan the smart aleck says, making me roll my eyes.
"You know what I meant. You guys are just being assholes" I scowl.
"Sorry man, we saw an opportunity and took it. But we'll be serious now so go on tell us about this girl" Scott chuckles.
"Her name is Holland. We met at the coffee shop and she ripped me a new one when I accidentally made her drop her coffee" I think back to the other morning.
"She demanded that I buy her a new one and when I did she gave me some attitude and lesson on manners. Then she left in a rush and I don't know. She's just interesting" I shrug a shoulder.
"She's interesting" Nathan repeats.
"Yeah and most importantly it seemed like she had no idea who I was" I smile slightly.
"Are you sure she really didn't know? Because you know as well as I do that loads of people pretend to not know who we are to get close to us" Derrick asks, crossing his arms over his chest.
"I think she thought I was just a random guy because when I asked for her phone as she was leaving she ignored me and just kept running. Most people that pretend to not be fans usually ask for our numbers" I reply.
"True" Nathan nods and Scott and Derrick make sounds of agreement.
"Guys! Break's over, get back up here!" Mason, our manager shouts from the stage.
The show is in a few days but Mason makes us do loads of run throughs to make sure everything is perfect.
"We'll talk more about this later" Scott says and we make our way back on the stage.
