AN: This will contain dark themes like child abuse and self harm. I also would like to say that I do struggle with autism but I don't experience the low empathy or low functioning autism. I did my research on writing this backstory for Ren, but if something is wrong or offensive at all, please let me know and I will change it. Please be kind in letting me know because I did truly did try and do this respectfully.

The year was 2051 when Grace and John Sherwood gave birth to their daughter, Hope Evelyn Sherwood. They were a wealthy family with a hand in the local Vault Tec higher ups in their area. They showed a certain image that portrayed them as this perfect little family that fought for the rights and protection of the good american people.
They were a young couple starting a family in their late 20s after gaining enough money to support themselves. Everyone that they were close with would say that they were the 'Nuclear American Family Ideal'. They relished in the title and hide their sinister sides in the shadows of the family home. They were seen donating their riches to local charities for disabled and dying children, cleaning local parks, organizing classic parties and school events, and really anything that got them in the good graces of the community.
They were a happy and stable family until Hope had turned 3 years old. Hope's parents true natures began to show as Hope showed signs of autism. They were originally worried for Hope and treated her with the perfect parenting for awhile, that was until they grew annoyed and resentful at how much help Hope truly needed.
She was a late bloomer for talking, walking, and all the other milestones a child is supposed to achieve. She was also a very easily irritated child, always throwing tantrums when she didn't get her way. She couldn't properly express her feelings or her thoughts. She only also really only ever felt intense emotions like sadness and anger. Her parents never learned how to properly cope with those emotions which is another reason she rarely knew what happiness and excitement felt like.
As it continued into her later toddler stages, her parents gave up on trying to help cope and work with Hope, they resorted to violence. They would spank, clap, hit, and throw her at any signs of disobedience. They would occasionally starve her too because she would refuse to eat certain foods for days. Her parents would do it on purpose just so they could lock her away in her room and let her starve.
Nearing early teenage stages, Hope had started showing extreme signs of gender dysphoria and massive uncomfortability in her body. She would lash out on her parents and herself, going as far as trying to remove her breasts herself. She didn't understand what was happening or what she was feeling because her parents didn't believe in transgender people and didn't allow her on many sights on the internet. Hope was also homeschooled by a very strict and abusive older man, limiting her social life tremendously.
