"So.. what are you?" I asked the creature.
".. I'm a summon, of yours. I am a form of collected flesh, a creature of darkness if you may. However I have intellect and conscience, though only for you, my summoner. That sets me apart—" he said getting interrupted by the wagon wheels hitting a rock on the muddy road.
"As for my ability, I possess the power to manipulate flesh. However, I cannot directly influence the flesh of living animals or what you classify as 'monsters.' My control is limited to deceased organisms. Furthermore, I have the ability to imbue instincts into creatures formed from dead flesh. With enough experience I may be able to provide consciousness to them.. but that's a distant future topic" He said
"Right.." I said, concerned by the length of his ability.
"You can summon various other entities, but you currently lack the power to do so. We're typically classified as 'creatures of darkness' by Gods. It remains unclear why I was summoned, given that I'm not traditionally unsummonable. Remember the hound I created in your village? That was the extent of your summoning ability." He said
"What.. do you mean you're traditionally unsummonable? Im aware that typically summoned creatures lack intelligence to be able to talk. I simply accepted that it was due to this power being a portion of Callallis, it's fragment" I asked
"Well, to your question, I'll ask another. Do you think any human can get summoned by another species?" he answered, looking a little offended.
"My kind does provide services however, a contract is due, with payments each that offer different." He then continued.
A sudden silence broke our conversation,
By that point, we had emerged from the dense forest, leaving my village far behind.Crossing a giant river, we were greeted by the plains of Evnlye, indicating that we were entering the kingdom of Evnlye.
beautiful and bright plains found only in the kingdom of Evnlye. The path from then connected to three paths of cobble, one to the left that goes towards mountains and another towards a city,
To where we were headed.Moving on the cobble path was far more comfortable and answered my question of why anyone would waste resources on roads connecting kingdoms and such.
On the paths a low stone wall to the left of the road appeared.
"Hey uh, why were these walls made..?" I asked, hesitantly.
"Due to wars, the path we're on used to be trenches. That's why it is made of cobble and stones, the previous king decided that since there's a hole then why shouldn't he make better roads. Only few kingdoms have cobble roads branching out though." He answered.
"ah... But I gotta ask, how do you know so much?" I said.
"I can consume memories of what I kill" he said.
When I was about to answer, a group of similar looking barbarians who attacked my village came into view.
"Those soldiers might question us, so don't appear suspicious. I'll introduce myself as your brother, comply accordingly. We're travellers journeying around the continent." He said as they came closer and closer.
My heart was pounding,I couldn't help but try to hide my armour however the leggings were standing out too much and I quickly gave up. But the part of the cloak covering my face was large and baggy almost hiding my face completely which reassured me a little.
Soon then, they neared us.
"Halt! You there, travellers! We're soldiers patrolling this area due to recent bandit activity. We need to inspect your wagon," barked a soldier in a white cloak similar to the barbarians, stepping forward from among the group.
