Katie stands in front of the mirror, her trunk is packed, the car is running, Josh has the camera out, all that's left is for Katie to walk down stairs and get in it, but for that to happen Katie has to actually move her legs, use her arm to open her door, use her eyes to not fall over etc.
She doesn't think she can face that, so she stares at her reflection in the mirror. She's wearing denim shorts, her red lacy knickers sticking out slightly. Her top was her mum's from her 20's, it's beige with a built-in scarf thing, it's a halterneck and grips her waist tight, while making her boobs look amazing. She's wearing some cowboy boots she found in a vintage store in Italy, and has a leather biker jacket, which was her mums from her 20's, on her bed.
"Katie, we can't be late!" Josh, her dad, calls up the stairs.
Katie swallows down the bile that threatens to come up.
"Coming Dad!" She calls back down. She adjusts her jewellery making sure no clasps are at the front of her neck. She then adjusts the claw clip she has her hair in, before forcing her legs to move, her hand to pull her door open, her feet along the hallway, her eyes on the top step, and she lets autopilot take over as she walks down the stairs.
"Oh look at you!" Sally sighs, "That top looks better on you than it ever did on me!"
Katie laughs, "I've got your jacket too," She says, "Oh shit, your jacket!" She exclaims, dashing back up the stairs, taking the jacket from her bed, giving her room and once over and dashing back down the stairs, and into the car.
Somehow they make it to the station all in one piece and then on to the platform, and too soon for Katie's liking they are readying themselves for goodbye.
"Come here pumpkin," Josh says, Katie slots under her dad's arm, as he holds her tight to his chest, "You're gonna have an amazing year as head girl and quidditch captain and enjoy Scotland, you're going to be perfect, I know it,"
"I love you, dad," Katie says.
"I love you more." Josh smiles, sadly.
Sally stands holding her daughter at arms length, "You look amazing, and you remember to not get in trouble, pay attention in lessons, and don't become too obsessed with Quidditch please, academics matter," She presses, dusting off a feather from Sally's shoulder, "And be happy,"
Sally shoves her arms around her daughter, grabbing her close, tears springing in the corners of her eyes, "I love you, Katie," She whispers.
"I love you too, mum," Katie responds, smiling. "Now I'm going to go, before you embarrass me further, yeah?"
She smiles, then spots Maeve Webb, grinning at her from with her family.
"Love you!" Katie calls off to her parents, as she runs and tackles Maeve.
"Katie, Katie, Katie, I would shag you right now, if we weren't on a station with a bunch of grownups who are probably perverts!" Maeve cries out, some people around look at her confused, but Maeve doesn't care.
"Maeve, you look so fit, my god!" Katie responds, taking in her best friend who is wearing jeans that make her arse look so fat and a top which looks more like a bra but Katie thinks she looks like a goddess.
"We're like the hottest best friends ever," Maeve responds.
"Imagine if we dated, we'd be unstoppable," Katie winks at her best friend.
"Now don't go putting ideas in my lesbian head," Maeve jokes.
Regulus' morning went much like every morning before Hogwarts, his mother yelled at him to be quick, and his father didn't appear to notice him, too absorbed in his coffee and paper.
"Be good, we're expecting a lot of you," Is what he says every year as he looks away to drown himself in coffee.
Regulus' mother doesn't say anything to her youngest son, just orders Kreacher to get Regulus' bag. She then drinks tea, while watching Regulus eat his breakfast, which consists of fruit and yoghurt. Then she forces an omelette down him. Walburga Black may not care for her son's mental health but is huge on physical health and making sure Regulus stays eating all the foods to keep him strong and good looking.
"Regulus Black, we are leaving now, so get yourself up and to the apparition spot," She snaps, she then grabs her son's arm, hooking onto it with such force Regulus thinks he might snap. They apparate quickly, landing moments later on the bustling platform of 10 3⁄4.
"You're headboy, and Quidditch captain, your predicted grades are good, but you need to do better, I expect Slytherin to win the Quidditch cup, I expect you to get O's in everything and most of all I expect you to not even look at any muggle borns or blood traitors this year, keep your head focused and in line," She holds his head firmly in her hand, "You hold the Black Family name in your hand, you will not disappoint,"
"Yes mother," Regulus says, like a robot.
Next to them they hear girls shrieking, Walburga looks to see two girls jumping into each other, huge grins on their faces, she snarls in disgust.
Regulus sees the infamous Maeve and Katie, Gryffindor it girls, is what the school have nicknamed them. Maeve is the hottest girl at Hogwarts, and most likely to get pregnant, Katie is the golden girl. Maeve starts rambling very loudly about how much she'd like to shag Katie, and Regulus looks the girl up and down and can't help but agree, Katie's always been gorgeous, and is probably second in line to be a teen mum, seeing as how often she's in Regulus' dorm in the morning after sleeping with Barty.
"They are the kinds that you will not be consorting with, yes son," Walburga snaps, taking Regulus' attention away from them.
"Yes mother," He says, robotically.
Then Barty Crouch Jr, Evan Rosier and Pandora Rosier all stand nearby. Evan signals for him to join them, knowing Walburga can be mean, and wouldn't agree for his friends to approach him.
"May I go and get on the train, so I can get to the prefect meeting and make a good impression?" He asks.
"Yes, leave now," Walburga snaps, "I will see you at Christmas,"
Without any more words Walburga disapparates, then Barty runs over to his best mate. "Hey fuckface," He greets.
"Wait, can you hear a buzzing coming from that direction?" Regulus asks Evan and Pandora, signalling to where Barty stands.
Evan cackles, "Yeah, I think a wasp has been following us around all morning,"
Pandora smiles, "Oh don't be so mean," She snaps, "It's obviously a bee,"
They all fall about in giggles.
"Well I guess I could just go find my extremely hot girlfriend and shag her, if I'm unwanted here," Barty suggests, shrugging.
"Girlfriend?" Regulus asks.
"Yeah, he won't shut up about her, Katie Anderson, the golden girl, dating a Slytherin, not just an Slytherin, but the delinquent Barty Crouch Jr," Evan says, rolling his eyes, "I can already see the gossip page."
"Oh yeah, the gossip column," Pandora rolls her eyes.
The four make their way onto the train finding an empty carriage, talking about the infamous gossip column. There's the Hogwarts Weekly, which is run by Rita Skeeter, she writes about random bullshit most people don't care about, people only get the newspaper for the gossip column, it's anonymously written, but has all the newest gossip some everyone knows already, some no one knows.
"Reg, don't you have headboy meeting," Barty reminds him.
"Shit yeah," He says, standing quickly.
"I wonder who the head girl is?" Pandora says softly, doing a cross word in a muggle newspaper.
"Probably a bitch, but I'll live," Regulus complains, walking out of their compartment quickly.
Author comments:
Fyi this is my first time properly writing fanfiction, and I had this idea years ago but was too scared to actually write and publish it, but I am now. I have some sort of idea of where this is going, but it's also just some fun and exploring characters who aren't perfect falling in love.
This chapter is also just introducing the characters and their friends, proper story starts next chapter.
