"Damnit, Johnathan, I told you I didn't want to go out tonight"' I yell at my friend, over the loud music in the bar, that he practically blackmailed me into coming to tonight.
" Come on, how was I supposed to know your asshole ex was going to be here" he responds as he pours me a drink
" I just...how am I going to have any fun, knowing they are right there" I gesture across the room, where my ex stands, grinding against a blonde. Johnathan grabs my chin, pulling me to face him.
" Just ignore his sorry ass, Neil will be here any minute" I smile at the mention of our friend, Neil. I've been friends with them ever since I stumbled into Gumshoe Video when I was bored one day. That was three years ago, and I have since developed a crush on Neil. Except, it isn't a crush, I am absolutely, head-over-heels in love with the man, but he doesn't seem to feel the same way, though, Jonathan thinks otherwise. My ex hated that I chose to hang out with a bunch of losers (his words, not mine) and he accused me of cheating, cause Neil and I are so close. Just a week after that, Neil caught my boyfriend kissing someone else, the same someone who is grinding all over him across this very bar. Neil held me as I cried in his arms and then he cheered me up by watching some cheesy, mob movie.  Now that Neil is single again, Johnathan won't stop trying to get us together.

I glance toward the door, taking a sip of my drink, as i notice Neil come through the door.
" Hey, you made it" I say as he approaches, immediately pulling me into a hug. He and Johnathan exchange a few words, just as the crowd erupts in cheers for the live band, which is actually one of the better ones I have heard play here. As the applause quiets down, the band begins a slower paced song and the crowd splits into couples. I can't stop myself from staring at my ex as he sways with his new girl along with the soft notes of the song, Neil notices my silence and follows my eyeline, mumbling something along the lines of "why is he here".

.Suddenly, I feel his hand in mine, and he leads me to the floor. My heart is nearly beating out of my chest, as we start to sway to the music just like any other couple. Neil wrapped his arms around my back and my arms instinctively draped around his neck. I couldn't help but take in how amazing it felt to be this close to him and how good his hair smelled. Suddenly, I'm pulled from my thoughts when he speaks to me.
" Y/n, I want to do something, please don't get mad" before I can ask what he meant, his lips were on mine. I froze in shock for only a few seconds before I kiss him back. When we separate to catch our breath, he pulls me close to him again, before whispering in my ear....
