"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
you groaned and sat up, rubbing the fatigue out of your eyes. looking at the clock, it read 4:31 AM.
what an unsatisfying number.
it had been days of this, getting woken up at ungodly hours because of your child's random screaming.
but then... it stopped.
it finally stopped!
"kuni-" you cut yourself off when you looked next to you and saw the vacant space next to you, where scaramouche would be sleeping. confused, you pulled the covers off and begrudgingly looked around to find him. you made sure your steps were quiet to prevent the baby from waking up again.
you walked into the nursery room and saw scaramouche sitting on a stool next to soki's crib, your small child grasping onto his finger as she fell asleep again tucked under the blankets. his indigo eyes were fully on her, looking like he was completely and utterly lovestruck by how small she was.
you smiled and walked inside the dim room, "hey."
scaramouche looked up at you with a small smile. "hey."
he patted his lap, and you sat down on it. once you were settled, he gave you a sweet kiss on the lips as his free arm wrapped around your waist. "the baby woke you up too?"
"yeah," you nodded. "she's a handful."
"just like you," he softly snickered, making you roll your eyes.
"yeah yeah, whatever."
scaramouche looked down at your kid again, smiling softly. "she's beautiful, Y/N. the epitome of perfection."
"she really is," you said, admiring her with your husband. "just like you."
he laughed a little but concealed it under a scoff, "did you call me 'beautiful'? i thought you said you'd stop."
"did i? but i'm only speaking the truth," you retorted, booping his nose. "you're my beautiful husband."
he rolls his eyes, "you dork."
"you married this dork."
"and i'll never regret it," he said, nuzzling his nose into your neck, making you softly laugh.
"i love you both," you replied, referring to you and your daughter.
"i love you both too," he said with a love-filled smile.
you both looked down when you heard gurgling, seeing soki in his grasp. she looked up at you both with her eyes, twinkling in the room's low light. soki looked sleepy, yet the delight in her eyes was hard to describe.
scaramouche gently set her back in her crib, but then she cried again. he picked her right back up, holding her with one hand while the other held your waist. you held her with a hand, both of you gently supporting her.
"what a brat," he said, not meaning it in the slightest. "she has your clinginess."
"on the contrary, i think she has yours," you replied, looking at where scaramouche held onto your waist.
"don't talk back," he replied with mock sternness.
you giggled and pecked his cheek, "sorry, my lord."
he groaned with mock annoyance. "seriously?"
"of course."
you let out a soft yawn, and he smiled softly.
"go back to bed," he coaxed you. "i'll stay with soki. it's almost 5."
"it's fine," you replied, holding onto him. "can't i stay here with you and soki?"
he gently placed soki in her crib before throwing you over his shoulder, making you laugh. "k-kuni! put me down! i can walk on my own!"
he spanked you warningly as he reached and grabbed soki, holding both of you as he walked to the bedroom. scaramouche sat down on the bed, situating you two so he was sat up against the headboard with you laying by his side, and soki cradled in one arm.
"now go to sleep," he said sternly, gently running a hand through your hair and massaging your scalp. his nails gently scratched the surface of your scalp, making you shiver from how nice it felt.
"... oh fine... goodnight kuni."
"goodnight," he echoed, kissing you gently on the head. "sleep well."
and you did sleep well.
because you knew your child would be in good hands with her father.
