The court shone brightly in front of him. The sound of the ball hitting the ground, the incoming screams and cheers for the winning team, the little boy stared at the sight in front of him. Fascinated by the whole thing.
"Finally the intense rally between Japan and Brazil had ended with Japan's scoring the winning point! What an incredible gameplay displayed by both teams for today's match."
"Yes, yes! Japan went through with an aggressive playstyle for their match today against the reigning champions, Brazil. This time one of their best hitters, Fujiwara Morisuke, is playing the position of a setter, replacing their regular setter Inuhata Masahiko. Despite his first time being in this position, Fujiwara Morisuke proved why he is the top all-rounder of the team; delivering yet another flawless performance, securing Japan's place in the quarterfinals."
As the commentators showered praises towards the player who were shown on the big screen, Morisuke look up at the stands, specifically the VIP section, where the boy sat alone. He waved his arms excitedly at the boy's direction while shouting loudly.
"SEEEIIIYYYAAA!!!"
His screams caught the attention of his teammates who look at the direction where he was waving. The boy who heard his loud yelling leaned against the railing to get a better look and waved back.
"Who's the kid Fujiwara?" His friend, Masahiko asked curiously. It was the first time he saw Morisuke bring someone during their matches.
"Ah, he's my nephew."
"Does he play?"
"Not really... But he seems interested in it. It's one of my goals this year to get him to play a real game on court instead of just practicing by himself." Morisuke clenched his fist in determination.
"I think he will consider it after today's match."
"Captain?"
The burly man gaze at Morisuke for a moment. "He has potential to be a great player someday Fujiwara."
'That look in his eyes says it all.'
Morisuke raised his eyebrow. "How would you know that?"
The captain shrugged before walking away. Morisuke got to admit, his captain can get a teensy bit annoying at times. Ever since he joined the national team, the captain would always give vague comments on the things Morisuke say or do. There are times when Morisuke would understand what he was trying to say and there are times when he wouldn't. Whenever he ask him to explain further the man would just walk away like he did just now.
Masahiko glance at his friend and pat his back. "Don't mind him."
"Hah...sometimes I don't understand him."
Seeing gloomy clouds were starting to form around his friend, Masahiko quickly changed the topic. "Anyway—WHAT THE HELL WERE THOSE SETS EARLIER?! They were so freakishly accurate! Have you been practicing setting behind my back?" He shook him by the collar.
"Dude let go or I'll throw up on you." Masahiko quickly let go of him. "I doubt I'll be able to recreate those sets again."
"What makes you think like that?"
"It was the adrenaline rush and anxiety that help me through it. The coach and our teammates trust me to perform well in your place so I gotta do what I gotta do for the team. Trust me, this is only a one time thing so you better get better soon and take back your position." Morisuke raised his fist towards Masahiko.
"Hai, hai~" With a fist bump, the two went on their way to the locker rooms.
