During a cold February night, the sky above was shining so brightly from the moon. Chatterbox did not have to worry about bringing any source of light due the moonlight. The 6'0 foot tall, masked man slowly walking towards home, with many paths leading to the funhouse, he decided to follow the path that brought him to the front door. Even though the walk was peaceful, his mind was still not at ease. Before reaching to the front door of the funhouse, he lets out a small sigh escape. As his hand touched a slightly cold door knob, pushing it to enter then closing the door behind him. After entering his first thought was to make the fire to warm the cold home, throwing old newspaper and some kindling, grabbing the lighter that was in his suit pocket, as fire gradually grew. Once he was able to place the block of wood, stepping away.
Leaving the room to grab himself that bottle of whiskey that was left on the crowded kitchen table, wondering which clown left it, he shrugged to his own useless question, he was glad he didn't need to go to the liquor store. Chatterbox starts to walk back to the living room. He sits onto the worn out single chair that faced the firepit. Twisting the bottle of whiskey open, taking a big swig from the bottle. Feeling the familiar burn go down his throat. He starts to think about everything that was running through his mind. But, the one main thought stuck with him.
His late wife. Giggles.
Chatterbox still beating himself up for what has happened to her last year, wishing he could go back in time to change everything, wondering why she did what she did after the incident happened. Another swig. His demons begins to take control. Hearing distant scream in the back of his head. Giggles screams of agony, when they were both taken to the Grapeseed P.D. torture room.
He begins to panic.
"No Giggles!" Tears begin to form, he grabbed the half empty bottle of whiskey. Clenching it before he throws it against the wall, falling down onto his knees.
"C-Chatty?" a soothe voice appeared.
Chatterbox winced when Twinkles placed his hand on his shoulder, Chatterbox begins to break down, knowing he can trust Twinkles with his life. Now his mask begins to feel damp from the tears, he slowly begins to take deep breaths before he tries to talk.
"What's wrong?" The curious clown tilted his head as he sits on the floor next to him.
"I-I-I.." Chatterbox begins to stutter his words. Next thing he sits beside his friend. While, Twinkles patiently waits for his friend to calm down and speak, in hopes to help.
Chatterbox admits he wanted to lie to Twinkles on why he has been off lately, since he did not want to be judged or scare off Twinkles. But, it has been a year now since Giggles was gone. It was time for him to start healing. Now is not the time to be a wuss, he thought.
"Twinkles, I hope you don't think bad or even run off..." he lets out a big sigh, he slightly leans into Twinkles arm.
"You know I had a wife long time ago?" Chatterbox throat croaked a bit, then he cleared his throat. While he saw Twinkles shook his head 'no'
"Twinkles did not know Chatty had a wife" He was a bit puzzled that he finds out his friend was married. Twinkles hums a bit wondering where he was going with, thinking that this isn't bad.
"Man that was a pain losing her, ever since then.." Chatty paused for a moment. "I followed one rule. The rule of a goose." He begins to sit more properly and face towards Twinkles. "If two geese are together and one is shot from the sky, the other goose is alone for life, they still fly with the flock but they land alone. that's the rule I followed for a while now." He sniffles a bit as he told him the one rule he will likely follow his whole life. As so he thinks he will.
"I killed my wife."
Twinkles body language changed a bit before he spoke.
"W-why?" He questioned.
Chatterbox felt tensed after Twinkles spoke. He looks away from Twinkles, he starts to feel ashamed before he starts to tell him the story.
"It is a long story" his voice is now quiet, "well it has been about a year now, I was taken to the P.D torture room with my wife, Giggles." A big sigh escaped before continues. "We were told to go there and play a game. I won, but I wanted to take her place when she lost, they did not consider it at all." Chatterbox tries hard to not cry while telling him the story. Twinkles stays silenced as he listened. "They poured gasoline on her while they dragged me out of the room, I plead them to not do it because we needed her" he paused when he said 'we' "I needed her." He corrected himself
"When she starts to cry out, Dundee took me out of the room, I felt so useless, when I couldn't help her." Chatterbox clenched his fist. "I did not see her for 8 months after the incident, one night I got an unknown call to meet them at the same torture room." Chatterbox sighed before telling him what happened next, on how Giggles was upset with him that he started to become friends with Barry. The one who poured the gasoline on Giggles.
"The thing is, I hate myself for what has happened to her, I didn't know it was her because she was dressed as a gang member, and she tried to cut my head of..." Chatterbox's tenses up and he tries to hold in the tears thinking about her taking her last breath in his arms as he begins to apologize over and over. "So then when she ran towards me with the knife, I pulled the trigger, I shot her in the heart."
Twinkles was silent the whole story, at first he was a bit concerned but then he started to feel sorry and wished he could help his friend not feel this pain anymore.
"Twinkles thinks it is not your fault" He spoke in a sooth yet sad tone.
"No, I believe it is my fault. She would've been here with me if I just opened my eyes and figured it out that it was her behind that mask!" Chatterbox clinched the rock he had in his pocket, he begins to stand up and aim towards the window beside the fire pit.
"IM SO YUCKING STUPID!!!" He yells out as the glass shattered, bits and pieces flew everywhere. Twinkles flinched a bit when the rock contacted with the window, he gets up and he stares at him. Before approaching closer to Chatterbox giving him the biggest hug he can give to his friend.
"Twinkles is sorry Chatty went through that." As he spoke Chatterbox never felt the lowest of his life, he thought that he hopes no one will ever see he at his lowest. He gave a hug back to his now best friend.
"Please don't tell anyone I was crying or anything about this, it stays between you and me." He released the hug and looks at Twinkles. "Or I will kill you..." he mumbles before he walks away.
Twinkles blinked before he spoke, "Chatty's secret safe with Twinkles!" Before he can say anything else Chatterbox spoke with another sigh.
"I think it's time to go to bed. Good night Twinkles, thank you for being there." Chatterbox begins to walk upstairs, he wasn't actually going to sleep he was just going to grab his cigarettes he found in the corner of the room and have a smoke outside his balcony thinking about anything and everything.
