Johnathan's P.O.V
"Turn it a bit, Carl." I instructed.
Carl turned his hand a bit, and the feathers jumped in the air. Carl was a really great witch with even greater potential. The only problem was that he was an early bloomer, so his magic was still wild. We were practicing control, and there was no better way to learn that, but by focusing on levitation.
My phone rang louder than I expected it, piercing both of our ears. Carl lost focus and dropped all 2 kg of the feathers down, flooding the entire office.
"Yes." I answered the phone with half annoyance.
"Johnny!" Exclaimed a voice I hadn't heard in a very long time.
"Jacobi?" I responded in shock, sinking back into the feathers.
"Yeah, hey man." He said, but I could feel something was wrong.
Jacobi Roslind was a very old friend of mine, and we once lived together at some point and I taught him everything he knew about becoming the powerful man he is today. I take full credibility in taking care of him and his brother after they fled from home. The boy's family history is gruesome, but the two of them were the only ones that came out unscathed.
"I haven't talked to you in a while. You have run out from your old pal, huh?" I asked casually, trying to ease him for the next question I was going to ask. I had caught wind that he had found a mate and I was so happy for him. I had initially planned on making a trip to visit him and see his mate but before I could even have time to make a plan to travel I heard from Noah that she had died and Jacobi had switched off his humanity. Judging by the sound of his voice, I could still tell that it was still off.
"Ohh, it's nothing like that. We both know if I came now, you would make me turn it back on, and I really hate arguing with my elders." He said plainly.
"That makes sense. What can I help you with?" I asked him, not wanting to anger him just yet.
"Eddalyn and Noah are on their way there to collect some medicine. I had already ordered from the front desk. "
"Ohk, no problem, I will be expecting them I..."
Before I could even finish my sentence, a panicked Carl burst into my office, panting.
"Emperor! There is a vampire witch on our doorstep." He said in panic. His words were all jumbled up and all over the place.
"Carl, calm down and speak slowly." I told him.
"She killed Evan! "He panicked further.
"What?!" I was starting to panic too.
Rushing down to the lobby, I saw some people gathered on the couch trying to treat Evan. Another larger group was gathered at the entrance. The witches' living compound was a very sacred place for us, and to prevent people seeking us, we had put up a barrier so that the outside world could not see the building or what's inside. So, from outside, all that could be seen was an empty field.
"What happened?" I inquired to one specifically calm witch. Asking someone panicked would just give the same answers that Carl just gave.
"There is a girl outside who had been looking into the barrier for a while now. At first we thought she couldn't see us just like all those previous humans that would come around but she is no human instead she turned out to be death stare killing witch that had eyes as crimson as a Vampire's." The fellow witch explained.
This explained part of the situation, but I needed to things myself. Pushing past everyone, I stood right in front of this 'vampire witch'. Looking at her at first glance, she looks like a human, but looking closer, you can feel the extreme power that radiated off of her. Minus the white hair and red eyes, of course. The more she focused on what was inside the barrier, the more witches around the room fell limp on the ground like Evan did. They weren't dead, but the power that radiated off of her was focused on the barrier and breaking it, therefore weakening the people who created it.
Memories surged in my head the longer I looked at her. She looked like her. I was dumbfounded for a long while.
"How could this be possible?" I mumbled to myself.
"Emperor, do something. We are getting weaker." Carl's voice shook me from my thoughts.
I placed my hand on the barrier.
"You're letting her in?!" Carl shrieked in horror.
"No, I'm going to her. It will be fine, Carl."
With that, I stepped out, and the girl's eyes widened once I did. She looked at me for a long while before taking a deep breath, inhaling my scent. I did the same towards her. My heart almost stopped when an image flashed in my mind.
"Camellia." I said.
She gasped. Obviously, she recognised the name as well. It was her. My niece stood in front of me. After a thousand years, she came back home. Tears threatened to come out. She looked so much her mother.
"Who are you?" She asked.
I put my hand up in front of her being too speechless to speak, so I'd rather show her.
The moment her hand touched mine, I could feel every single detail of familiar power that I used to feel when her mother was around."Uncle?" She said, her voice coated with uncertainty.
"Yes, my niece." I said.
She smiled, her eyes glowing with her newfound happiness. It was brighter than anything I've ever seen, and just like her mother, she was deeply connected to the elements of the earth because as soon as she smiled, flowers spread and bloomed around us. She was very happy.
"Let's come in. I will explain everything to you. I'm sure you have a lot of questions. "
She nodded. Through the barrier, I could see Carl faint he saw me leading Camilia inside.
All the witches became very uneasy. I cleared my throat and turned to Camellia, and she looked up at me expectantly.
"Camellia, do you mind clearing the air a bit?"
"I don't know how to. Did I do this?" She asked innocently with a tinge of fear. I couldn't let her feel scared, or things would be very hard to solve.
"Yes, but don't worry, they are not dead they are just under some spell. By trying to weaken the barrier earlier, you also weakened the creators. She nodded in understanding.
"So how do I fix it?" She asked.
"Okay, just close your eyes and feel the power around you." She did as I said.
"Okay, now focus on the barrier around us. Don't stop until I say so."
Within seconds, everyone woke up, and I could already feel her power radiating from barrier to creators to Camellia. Everyone was stronger, including me. Even Carl woke up.
I led Camellia into my office soon after and sat her down. Then I noticed something about her.
"You...where do you come from?" I asked.
"I actually don't remember." She stated just as I expected.
"Well, what do you remember? "I asked. What I didn't expect was her answer.
"A lot of running, blood and a very lot of killing."
