Dreams are like a maze. Connected pathways that shine in the darkness of the mind. Each dream is a realm welcoming those who dare. Passing through to its other side is a strength of mine as I am Sumavi, the best dream harvester the demon world has ever seen, or should I say that is who my father wishes me to be.

In the nineteen years that I've lived, I was taught everything I could about magic and mana. My father saw his resemblance in me and thought I'd be a skilled mana harvester like him. Yet, I failed at doing the most important of jobs as my father's son and a shapeshifter demon, to successfully harvest the white mana of humans my kind feeds upon and needs to survive.

Walking in the human world as a redhead, which I didn't have to change about my appearance, never stopped them from thinking of my identity. It drove me to believe that every human redhead I came across could've been one of my kind, a demon in disguise. You see, we love to hide in plain sight. To be a friend or a lover. To listen to what humans say and do. To choose those with the purist of mana, to hunt at night when they slip into the vast realm of dreams, unguarded.

A craw is my animal of choice if I were to visit your dreams. Its light body and swift flutter within the tricky curves of the dream realm make it the most suitable for the task, that is if you were a human and a female.

I have a weakness for their kind. I am unsure what drives me to them, whether it is their aromatic irresistible smell or the purity of their mana. Either way, I love them and I'm not ashamed of it.

Horses too hold a special space in my heart that I can't deny. Their strong personality and majestic beauty are beyond comprehension. I grew to adore them and with time, I learned that their mana is the purest and most powerful along with women's if harvested correctly, especially those who become mothers.

Plants, the silent friend of all seems to understand me the best. To respond to my delicate touch. To grow extraordinarily under my care, its fresh bloom a language spoken and understood.

Despite all the traits I've listed which I am proud of, to my father, I am but a failure. A disgrace to his family's long history of achievements and bravery. In his eyes, I am a mere child who still enjoys the company of nature and little rodents. A cowardly demon who's incapable of retrieving mana to the fullest. A demon who's unable to take a life.

You see, taking a human's life during sleep is simple to a demon such as me. Drain their mana to the fullest and that's it. That was all I was tasked to do, yet I refuse to do so when I can retrieve what I need to survive. Why harm others when we as demons can learn how to coexist?

My father could never see where I was coming from. He could not understand...

In his eyes, I'm a coward, even a traitor to my kind. Unlike my brave siblings who were in the army of The Fantoms, fighting in the front lines of the high hills. Nor was I among my cousins chosen to be among the skillful divers of the deep sea, triumphal every time with an abundance of the rarest of treasures.

Among my people, I am but a dream harvester, who miserably failed to do his job...

To myself, I prefer to be Sumavi the kind.

Sumavi, who within the nineteen years he lived, learned how to love and cherish the lives around him. Who within the past year became a devoted lover to a remarkable human woman he spared during one of his venturous nights... A male demon who without knowing transformed into a different kind of demon. A kind he never knew existed, a demon who enjoys the company of all creatures, diverse as they are.

I Sumavi am proud of who I've become, heedless of what my father thinks of me.

I am Sumavi, who will one day be the greatest demon this realm has ever known. The demon who'll mend the gap between all creatures. The one that'll unite all...

I Sumavi will one day end the mana draining and begin a new era of peace among all creatures.
