'It's time to wake up, death hasn't come for you yet'

She opened her eyes, looking around the familiar place. The green luscious plants covered the mountain as far as the eye could see, it was truly a piece of art. She noticed the person standing besides her, her mother stood there kneeled on the ground, praying. As the woman finished her preayer, she turned towards her young daughter.

"Do you remember what I told you, Eliana? We must always cherish the gods that protect us and pray on their well-being." she smilled at the child who stared at her in awe and admiration. "That's why tomorrow the ritual will occur, you have to be ready, alright sweetie?" the woman smilled, patting the soft brown hair her child had.

The woman got up, picking up her child in her arms "mom..why was I choosen for the ritual?" the young girl asked, her golden gaze staring into her mother's. "You're a blessing from the heavens, sweetie. Ever sense the day you were born. Thats why we are giving you to live a better life, with the gods" the little girl smilled, happy to have such a wonderful fate.

Oh, but how wrong she was, a naive little thing that saw the world through a bright and happy lense. As her mother looked at the child in her arms, the merciless monster she created would soon be unleashed, but that's for another chapter."Let's go now, tomorrow's your big day"

They made their way up the green mountain, everyday the child loved to look at it more and more. It was like a scenery from one of her fairytales. "I heard that an outlander came over and he'll be at the ritual tomorrow, are you excited Eliana?" the girl looks up at her mom, a big smile on her face. "Of course mom!"

It was finally the day everyone awaited, the sacred and holy day where they would repay the heavens for their blessing. The yound girl hurried over to the peak of her home, the white flowy dress she wore almost making her stumble multiple times. Regardless, she didn't slow down, how could she, the excitement made her unable to think properly.

It wasn't long before her running came to a stop as someone grabbed her by the back of the dress, pulling her up into their arms. The young girl looked over at the person who caught her, her smile widening when she notices who it was. "Princess!" she hugged the young adult as laugher could be heard from her princess's lips. "My, my, so eager you are! Remember Eliana all you have to do is follow the priest's orders, it will be over quickly."

The girl nodded, her worried mother soon catching up to the both of them "Oh my goodness, princess. Im so sorry for my daughter's inappropriate behavior, expecially in such a busy place." the mom recived a chuckle in response, as the princess took no offense in a child behaving just as one.

"Now, Eliana. Stop bothering the princess and come with mommy" the small child was handed back to her mother, receiving a few hadpats from her idol before depparting ways. She wanted to have a talk with someone before the ceremony started, thus taking a different route.

The family made their wait to the top along with the rest of the people, there were dozens of citizens starting to gather already. As the woman handed her child to the priest, a warm happy smile on everyone's faces, she couldn't help but feel like a burden was going to be lifted off of her.

"Mom, I'll see you later!" the girl happily waved to her mother, as her mother waved back, a almost sinister smile on her face. "let me explain everything to you alright, Eliana?" the priest started, going over the basics of what was going to happen. The explenation was brief but helpful, the priest was going to do a speach and when he signaled her to she would enter the domain located there.

That domain served like a temple to the people of the mountain, like their way of comunicating with the gods. Everytime they needed help, they would pray in the domaim, or leave their offerings inside. She was no exception. If everything succeeded, once inside she would have to wait for the gods to receive her so the ritual would be complete.

Minutes went by, she was getting rather anxious by everything. I mean, the girl would be unable to speak with everyone she looved after that, she would only be able to help them from above. She noticed how many people had gathered already, it was starting to get crowdy.

She was the princess and that outlander her mom spoke of but before she could try to talk with them, the speach started. They always did that, a way to strengthen the faith in the gods and to try and get their attention before the sacrifice. "Today is a very special day, we're all gathered here to repay the gods for they're kindness."

Everyone listened carefully, they all aprechiated the gods wholeheartedly, some couldn't say the gods aprechiated them back. "As the spring approaches, our fields will soon be filled with marvelous crops and our people will be joyfully and satisfied. The gods too must be acknowledged, for all of what we have and will have is given by them."

"Should we do anything they deem unbefitting, we shall be punished for it." those words felt half hearted, yet there was a certain truth to them. The gods had an unimaginable power and they could and would destroy their land if they wanted to, they could even torture the people. But it was not that case, today was a happy and beautiful day for everyone.

The priest held out his hand as agreed, as away for the kid to make her entrance. "This is Eliana, our brave offering. She will live a life in the heavens away from any troubles, serving the gods we love and cherish. Let's go my child, your time has come" she went over to the domain, her lifting her dress to go up the few steps, she stoped at the top, the doors of the domain already opened and awaiting her but first she looked one last time at her home.

The crowd chered for her, happy to see her depart. Until they grew louder and louder, some looking up other running, and a cold, freezing gush of wind penetrated them. Some stumbled foreward other fell back, some even got hurt. Needless to say, screams and chaos was everywhere, people were trying to save those that we're struck by the pillar, if you could even call it that, other we're crying and begging for help.

"It's the wrath of the gods!?" people panicked "We're going to be punished for our crimes! " others cried "Did they betray us?" some screamed. Yet the girl was unable to hear, see or do anything about it. The gushing wind sent her flying inside the domain, she heard no one and no one was there to soothe her, to make her worries about the dying people on the other side go away.

All the girl could do was wait, wait for the gods to come and take her, wait for when she could have a chance to try to save what would be left of her people. She was scared, terrified even, she saw it fall right in front of her, almost on top of her. The young child gor up, trying to open the domain door, yet they weren't budging. She felt helpless, like she was but an ant in a bigger game, maybe she truly was.

Maybe the gods she prayed to weren't all that good, but it was nott worth thinking about that now. They were her last hope so she had to finish the ritual and wait for them to come. The kid sat down on the hard floor, there was nothing surounding her, just a few candles and places to pray at. She allowed her body to fall further, laying on the ground, she was going to wait for a long tine regardless, a small nap wouldn't hurt.
