Banging on his dorm door violently ripped Tooru from the warm embrace of slumber. He groaned, pulling himself up into a sitting position to stretch his arms over his head, yawning as he threw his legs over the side of his bed to take the half dozen steps to his door. Another yawn left his throat as he pulled the door open with his eyes scrunched shut.
"You do realize this is a suite and other people live here, ri - mmph!"
Well, Tooru thought, accepting his life for what it was, there are worse things to wake up to than making out with Tetsu-chan.
After a couple of seconds of kissing and feeling Tetsurou's hand snake up into his hair Tooru pulled back, observing the barely concealed frustration in the other's eyes. Realizing what was happening and having a hunch on what caused Tetsurou to burst into his room at - 5:45!? Does this asshole have zero respect for my beauty sleep?! Shaking his head to rid his mind of the sudden flood of anger, Tooru brought his attention back to the matter at hand. He sighed, reluctantly taking a step back from Tetsurou, putting a hand up to his chest when the other tried to follow. "Tetsu-chan. I am saying this not only because I am your friend but because you interrupted what precious little sleep I do get; you need to find better coping skills for when Bo inadvertently hurts your feelings. Despite as much as I enjoy hearing you moan my name, it is completely unhealthy for you to be getting fucked by me while he is none the wiser just down the hall. You have to see that, right?"
Tetsurou huffed, stepping back to cross his arms and pout at Tooru. "You make it seem as if he and I are dating when he doesn't even have the slightest clue to my feelings. I mean, how oblivious could he be to not notice when someone has a huge crush on him?!"
It took all of Tooru's self control not to laugh at the absurdity of the situation. And it truly was an absurd situation. Here they were making a mess of things all because Tetsurou was too afraid of rejection to straight up ask Koutarou out. And while one might say Tooru is no better, he himself never having confessed to Tetsurou. But he has valid reasoning; he knows he would be rejected.
Unlike Tetsurou - who has no idea who Koutarou likes - Tooru knows Tetsurou doesn't feel the same way about him. And Tetsurou will never know of his feelings, not if Tooru has his way. Which is why Hajime calls him an idiot for accepting Tetsurou's proposal all those months ago.
"Let me get this straight; you like Kuroo but Kuroo likes Bokuto and nobody knows who Bokuto likes. One day, Kuroo asks you to pretend to be his boyfriend in order to make Bokuto jealous and realize he likes Kuroo - which he may or may not actually like him - and you, despite claiming you are fine with Kuroo never knowing your undying love for him, agreed to the insane plot?" Tooru will forever remember the look of resigned fury in Hajime's eyes during the entirety of the conversation. "You are incredibly stupid, you know that? You are quite literally setting yourself up for heart break no matter the outcome."
"Not if they all end up dating each other." Kenma had muttered to Keiji, getting a hum of agreement in response. "Although that is nightmare fuel, now that I think about it."
"Why are you two here again?" Tooru had snapped, getting a middle finger and a reminder that he had invaded their dorm room in response. "Whatever. As long as Tetsu-chan is happy then I am happy."
"You make me sick."
Blinking back into the present moment, Tooru allowed himself an eye roll and a sneer, mirroring Tetsurou's crossed arm pose. "You could be dating him if you just grew a pair and confessed."
Tetsurou scowled deeper, opening his mouth to reply when a door down the hall opened, the shuffling of bare feet heard in the near distance. Tooru held back a wince when Tetsurou's expression immediately shifted from annoyance to that of a love sick puppy, having no choice but to watch the soft way Tetsurou gazed down the hall at a sleep addled Koutarou, knowing he would never be on the receiving end of that look.
Koutarou approached the fake couple with a yawn, glaring at Tetsurou. "Dude, why the hell are you pounding on Oikawa's door so early in the morning? He doesn't live alone, you know."
Sometimes wish I did, Tooru subtly shook the thought from his head, feeling guilty over the flood of anger he felt when looking at Koutarou. It wasn't his fault Tetsurou was an emotionally constipated ass when it came to his own feelings.
Tetsurou chuckled at the annoyed look he received, pulling Tooru to his side with an arm over his shoulder. "Sorry, Bo. Tooru and I had a misunderstanding last night and I didn't want him to stew in it and over think like he always does."
Koutarou immediately shifted his glare from Tetsurou to Tooru, his gaze changing from anger to disapproval. "Are you feeling insecure again, Oiks? We've talked about this, you have nothing to worry about! You're a real catch and this idiot here is lucky to have you. I'm sure he said or did something to offend you - "
"Hey!"
" - but don't let this jerk hurt your feelings, got it? And if he does, I'll beat him up for you!"
"Dude!"
Tooru nodded, feeling ill over how much of a genuine person Koutarou was. It made Tooru disgusted with himself for all the negative feelings he got around him sometimes. Koutarou flashed him a smile that was entirely too bright for the early hour of the morning, clapping Tooru on the shoulder. "And remember, you have nothing to worry about! Kuroo really likes you, you practically have him wrapped around your finger!"
"Ha ha ha, yeah..." Tooru glanced at Tetsurou, his smile fake but the love in his eyes when he looked at Koutarou as real as it gets.
If only that were true, Bo. If only that were true...
