Seoul shimmered with a thousand lights that night, its skyscrapers lighting up the sky with colorful neon. In this vibrant city, 22-year-old Jinwoo stood at the pinnacle of his career. He was the main idol of Stellar Dreams, an extremely popular K-pop group. Every day, he received thousands of messages from adoring fans, but behind this mask of perfection lay a deep loneliness.
After a particularly exhausting concert, Jinwoo retreated to his dressing room, exhausted. He removed his makeup and looked at his reflection in the mirror. Who was he really? Was he still the passionate young boy about music he had once been, or just a puppet manipulated by his production agency?
That night, like every other night, Jinwoo had a strange and recurring dream. He found himself in a field of wildflowers, bathed in golden light, and a mysterious young woman stood by his side. Although her face remained blurry, her presence was comforting, bringing Jinwoo a peace he couldn't find anywhere else.
"Who are you?" he often whispered in his dreams, but the woman never answered, just smiling softly at him.
The next morning, Jinwoo woke up with the same feeling of melancholy. He quickly dressed for another day of rehearsals and media meetings. His manager, Mr. Lee, pushed him relentlessly to give his best.
"Jinwoo, you have to be perfect for the interview this afternoon. The fans are counting on you," Mr. Lee reminded him insistently.
"Yes, I know," Jinwoo replied wearily.
Despite the smile he wore in front of the cameras, Jinwoo felt a growing emptiness inside him. Fame came with a price, and he began to wonder if he was ready to pay it.
After the interview, he returned to his luxurious apartment, but even comfort and luxury couldn't fill his loneliness. He lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling, and thought again of the woman from his dreams.
One evening, during a concert in Busan, something extraordinary happened. In the middle of his performance, Jinwoo spotted in the crowd a young woman who strangely resembled the one from his dreams. He almost lost his rhythm, his concentration faltering. After the concert, he desperately searched for her backstage, but she seemed to have vanished into the crowd.
This unexpected encounter deeply disturbed him. Who was she? Was it possible that she was the same person from his dreams? Jinwoo couldn't help but think about it.
"Jinwoo, are you okay?" Taeyang, one of his teammates, asked, noticing his absent look.
"Yes, just tired," Jinwoo replied with a faint smile.
But Taeyang knew something was wrong. "If you need to talk, I'm here," he added before walking away.
That night, Jinwoo's dream was even more intense. The woman was there, in the field of flowers, and this time, she seemed closer than ever. Her smile was comforting, but Jinwoo felt a hidden sadness behind her eyes.
"Why are you always here?" he whispered, hoping for an answer.
The woman reached out to him, but before he could touch her, he woke up with a start. Heart pounding, Jinwoo lay there, trying to understand the meaning of these recurring dreams. Was it a sign? A premonition? He had no idea, but he was determined to find out the truth.
Days went by, and Jinwoo couldn't help but think of the young woman he had seen at the concert. He hoped to see her again, but each concert went smoothly, and the woman remained elusive. However, he felt she wasn't far, like an invisible presence following him everywhere.
One afternoon, as he walked incognito in a park to escape the showbiz pressure, he heard a familiar laugh. He turned and saw the young woman sitting on a bench, reading a book. His heart raced. It was her, he was sure of it.
Summoning his courage, Jinwoo approached her. "Excuse me, I think we've met before," he said with a timid smile.
The young woman looked up, surprised. "Ah, I don't think so. My name is Eunjin," she replied with a warm smile.
"Jinwoo," he said, extending his hand. "You look like someone I've seen in my dreams."
Eunjin burst out laughing. "That's the first time anyone's told me that. You must have very interesting dreams."
They started talking, and quickly, an unexpected friendship blossomed between them. Jinwoo found comfort and joy in Eunjin. She was the opposite of everything he knew in the showbiz world: simple, authentic, full of life.
Every meeting with Eunjin was a breath of fresh air for Jinwoo. They strolled through the streets of Seoul, disguised to avoid recognition, and Eunjin showed him the small pleasures of everyday life. One day, as they walked along the Han River, Eunjin told him how she had been mocked and harassed at school because of her appearance.
"Kids can be cruel," she shrugged. "But it taught me to be stronger."
Jinwoo, touched by her story, felt even closer to her. "I'm sorry you had to go through that," he said softly.
"Don't worry. What matters is that I survived and that I'm happy now," she replied with a radiant smile.
Over time, Jinwoo began to rediscover the taste of normal life he had forgotten since becoming famous. Eunjin helped him see the world in a different way, and he felt reborn because of her.
However, despite this new source of happiness, the dark sides of fame continued to haunt him. The relentless expectations of his agency, the obsessed fans, and the constant media surveillance put immense pressure on his shoulders. Jinwoo knew he had to find a balance between his idol life and his quest for normality, but he didn't yet know how to achieve it.
