Chapter 11: A Sweet Moment

Yuji had opened the door so fast that the current made Unik's hair tangle around her face. Unik blinked a few times and fixed her hair. Standing in his boxers Yuji stares in confusion.

"Good morning," says Unik, glancing down quickly before reverting her eyes to the ceiling. Yuji looked down and turned a bright pink, "hang on!" He closes the door again and runs back into the basement to find pants. A moment later Yuji returns panting and fully clothed. Unik lets out a chuckle.

"What's up?" asks Yuji, rubbing his head in embarrassment.

"Sorry for catching you at an...odd time...I know it's like 8 in the morning...but do you wanna come over to my room and have breakfast?" Yuji looks Unik up and down, colour has returned to her face and she seems to have more energy than yesterday morning.

"Are you sure you're feeling well enough to cook?" Asks Yuji more concerned that Gojo-sensei would get mad at him for letting Unik move around while she's still recovering. Unik nods, "I think I'll be fine...besides, I want to thank you for being by my side despite having just come back from your own mission." Yuji stares at Unik feeling extremely conflicted. Though Yuji has grown fond of Unik and wants to get close to her, he can't help but feel like her being his teacher's sister is making things a little complicated.

"It'll be fun," says Unik with a bright smile, "plus, I'll still be close enough to Shoko and Satoru so if anything happens we can call them." Yuji felt a thump in his chest upon witnessing Unik's smile. He took a moment to gaze at Unik's features. Her long silky white hair, her smooth skin, her blue and purple eyes that sparkled, the way she stood in her figure-hugging dress. Yuji was awestruck and despite fearing Gojo's wrath, he couldn't deny that he wanted to get closer to Unik, so reluctantly he agreed and in a trance followed Unik to her room.

...

"You briefly mentioned that you wanted to help Geto with his dreams," says Gojo as he helps Unik climb down from the roof back into her bedroom, "maybe instead of helping others you can help yourself first." Unik tilts her head in confusion as she lays back down on her bed. Gojo smiles and sits on the bed, his back facing his sister.

"As in why don't you live your youth, make friends and memories...find out who you are."

...

Unik glances behind her and smiles at Yuji as he yaps on about how amazing Jennifer Lawrence was in The Hunger Games. Unik thinks back to the words Satoru left her before she drifted to sleep. Live your youth eh? Mused Unik as they walked into her room. Upon entering Yuji follows Unik to the kitchenette and despite her protests, begins helping her prepare breakfast.

"I know you want to cook for me but lemme impress you with my skills," he said confidently while washing his hands. Unik reluctantly agrees and starts making rice and miso soup while Yuji pan-fried some salmon. They continued to chat and cook, stopping only to scream and laugh when Yuji set fire to the fish.

"FIRE! It's on fire!" yells Yuji holding a pan of flames.

"Sink! Sink! Yuji stop moving it around! screams Unik, grabbing Yuji and pulling his pan of hell under the running water. After the flames were out Unik opened the window laughing while Yuji threw the charred fish out. Yuji tries frying fish again while Unik sets the table, spontaneously bursting into fits of giggles over the chaos that just happened. Finally, the two were able to sit and eat.

"Wow, the fish is delicious! Exclaims Unik. Yuji nods with great enthusiasm, "Right! I told you I was a good cook." Unik smiles and glances down at her food as she thinks about the inferno Yuji almost created. The sudden urge to laugh hits and Unik chokes on the piece of fish she was eating.

"Unik!" Yuji yells jumping up at Unik as she gets up from her chair to get more water.

"I-I'm f-ine" stutters Unik. Yuji picks up his cup of water and helps Unik take a sip. After a few sips, Unik looks up and locks eyes with Yuji, tears still in her eyes as the coughing subsides. Yuji towered over Unik protectively, his face leaning into hers to make sure she was genuinely alright. Unik felt her face begin to glow red as she let her eyes trail down Yuji's face, from his concerned light brown eyes to his slightly parted lips to his sharp jawline. The warmth of his chest touched her upper body, making her feel as though Yuji was about to embrace her.

"Your face is getting really red Unik," says Yuji who suddenly puts his forehead to hers, "maybe all this moving around gave you a fever?" Yuji was now furrowing his brow in concern, removing his forehead from Unik's. He took his hand and gently cupped Unik's face, tilting her head up so he could get a closer look at her, Yuji's eyes bore into Unik's eyes, her heart was now beating wildly and she suddenly found it harder to breathe.

"I-I'm...fine really," says Unik. She begins to step away from Yuji when suddenly the door to her room bursts open causing Unik to jump.

"Unik!" exclaims Gojo with the hope of embarrassing Unik knowing Yuji was also in the room. "Oh?"

Yuji was on the floor holding his nose with Unik kneeling beside him apologizing profusely. Gojo smirks, "My, my did I interrupt you guys getting cozy?"

"Tissue Satoru! Get tissues please!" cries out Unik in a panic as she helps Yuji sit up.

Yuji's bleeding stopped quickly and the trio sat at the table. Unik continuously apologized after giving a serving of breakfast to her brother. Yuji smiled and tried to reassure Unik that he wasn't angry. Meanwhile, Gojo silently observed the two of them with a small smile, he was grateful that Unik got along with someone her age. Though she did have some sort of a relationship with Megumi and Tskumi, her time to build a deeper relationship was cut short by the kidnapping.

"Unik, have you hung out with Megumi since you've been back?" asks Gojo as he realizes that the two have barely talked since Unik arrived at Jujutsu High. Unik looks over at her brother and shakes her head. She had been so busy with missions that even if she did have time, she'd spend it training or hiding from people she didn't want to talk to. "I think," continues Gojo, "that you and Megumi should reconnect a bit before Yuji reveals himself to be alive at the Goodwill Event. It might help buffer any possible damage from the reveal." Unik sat there and thought for a moment before giving a nod, though she wasn't sure what Gojo meant by damages.

"It would be nice to reconnect..." says Unik faintly. Gojo smiles. "Just remember to keep Yuji being alive secret. While you do that, I will be training Yuji a little more so we will be ready for the Goodwill Event and all the excitement that will come next! Unik, depending on your recovery, you might be able to participate in the second half of the event, the one-on-one battles too!"

...

The next day Unik waits outside Jujutsu High's main entrance. She stares up into the sky, her eye patch blocking the direct beam of the sun while her left eye allows her to look at the moving clouds. Hearing footsteps, Unik turned and saw Megumi walking over to her.

"You wanted to chat?" says Megumi.
