I sit down at my usual bench and continue to read about aves. My concentration gets lost after I realize someone is whispering something. "Tunnels and twists. Don't inhale the mist" an old lady from across the library whispers. "Uhh, ma'am? Are you ok?" I ask. "Yes darling, I am. What's your name?" She gets up and walks over to my bench. "I'm Laurence, but I go by Lance." I tell her. "What a pretty name! My name is Tammy!" She responds. The bell tolls once again and we get up to move to our next locations. I walk out into the streets with the sun slowly peaking through the clouds. My hair shines in the light and lightens up my whole face. "The sun brings out the olive color in your hair!" Tammy says. "Oh, thanks!" I smile and wave at her. "Tunnels and twists, don't inhale the mist" she goes back to saying. I walk into the afternoon lunch diner and get a turkey, cheese, and tomato sandwich. Tammy was a very nice person. I should've gave her a compliment back. She commented on my hair AND name. I could've at least complimented her blouse. Olive color, olive color, olive- my hair is brown. How did she see olive? I finished up my food and went to the park. All this walking hurts my feet, I should get a car or a bike at least. As soon as I finally got comfortable at the park I had to leave. The hosts of the anniversary party arrived, which means I have to leave and stay in my apartment for the next 2 and a half hours. Yay...
I check my mailbox and see a handmade envelope with the wax seal of an osprey. Quickly, I go up to my apartment room. The back of the letter reads "Be smart, use your wings.". I had no idea what it meant, so I opened the letter. A small trinket falls onto my carpet along with a rock. "Ooo, a bloodstone!" The rock and trinket are tied together with some string. The actual mail inside the envelope is a photo of a long, circular hallway.
