Knowing Amaka

Chapter 5

   As I hold Tobi's hand again and we start walking home, my head is disarrayed with thoughts. I can't seem to wrap my head around everything that has happened to today. I didn't even notice we've gotten to my house until Tobi turns me to face him.

"Listen to me Chiamaka, I know today has been a lot for you, but you need to talk to your parents about this tonight " he says while placing both hands on my shoulders.
My face is neutral with a distant look in my eyes, I remain still uttering no words. My eyes connect with his, immediately I'm pulled out of my thoughts. I blink a few more times.

"Thanks tobi, I understand what I have to do, I let you know everything later" I say while pulling him down to my height for a hug, he holds on longer than expected and I gently free myself from his grasp.

"Goodnight amaka" tobi says as he stands there watching me walk to my doorstep. I turn around and see him still waiting, I wave my hand while offering a smile to him then I step in.

Sylvester sees me first but pretends not to notice me, typical syl. I pick him up and head to the kitchen where my mom would be making dinner if there was anything for us to eat. Luckily i saw food in a packed in a plastic which I assumed is mine. I step into my shared room and I see David reading while Amanda is almost asleep

"Have you guys eaten?" I asked referring to David.
He responds with a nod.

"What about syl?". He responds with a nod yet again.

"Is everyone at home?"
"I'd like to talk to all of us".
I gain his full attention after the request I made, he sits up and closes his book.

"Yeah, everybody is at home. What happened?".
I ignore his question and step out of our room to go to the guy's room. Caleb is using his laptop for work while Gabriel is playing a COD match on his iphone. David comes in right after me

"Amaka what happened?" He asks this time with a little apprehension in the voice. My brothers pick on this and they all turn to face me.

"Nothing happened, I just want to speak to all us concerning something important".
"Please wait in the living room, I want to call mom and dad". I say while handing Sylvester to David. I stand waiting for them to hustle themselves out of the room. I go to my parents. The room goes silent as my knock is heard, another argument I thought to myself as I step in.

"Where are you coming from by this time?" my father asked me.

"From my friend's place down the street, I'm sorry I came home late sir."
He's about to say something else but I spoke  first forcing him to drop the matter of my lateness.

"Please I want all us to go the living room to discuss something concerning my education. The guys are already there waiting I'll explain everything."

There's a little bit of hesitation but they leave the room with me and go to the living room. We're all finally sat together except Amanda who is sleeping already and I tell them all about my encounter with Mr Eugene and our conversation.....

"This is good news" Caleb says with a smile almost breaking out in laughter.

"Calm down guy, we don't know how true any of this is yet."Gabriel replies while putting a hand on Caleb's shoulder.

"So what do you want think?" My mom asks  referring to my father.

"Since he wants to discuss with us before disclosing more information, call him now. It's like we don't have much time to spend" my dad says to me.

I nod my head and dial Mr Eugene's number and place my phone on loud speaker. The room falls silent as it starts ringing, even syl is sitting on the table watching quietly. He picks up.
