LUNA WILSON WAS TWENTY-FOUR years old when she got into a car accident that proved to be fatal. If Carlisle Cullen hadn't been there to turn her into a vampire, she would have ceased to exist. It was a thought that terrified her and sent a chill through her body every time she thought it, so she tried not to. She was grateful for Carlisle, and would be until the end of time - literally.
While Luna was grateful for a second chance, her heart was shattered when she learned that she could no longer be around her mother; that they would have to tell her mom that she did die in that car accident. Luna was raised by a single mother named Lisa. For the entirety of her life, it had been just the two of them. Lisa had named her Luna because she was "the moon to her Earth, forever by her side."
It felt like a piece of Luna was no longer with her the day that Carlisle said she couldn't see her mom. Nonetheless, in order to protect her mom, she left Pennsylvania and joined Carlisle and his family in Forks, Washington. Decades later, after checking in on her mother quietly and from a distance, Luna learns that her beloved mother was no longer on the Earth; dead at eighty-nine years old. Luna's very Earth had been taken from her. One of Carlisle's children- she never did get around to changing her last name to Cullen; her last name was the only thing of her mom's she had left- Edward became infatuated with a human named Isabella "Bella" Swan who had the same chocolate brown eyes that Lisa did.
After seeing Luna's turmoil upon the entrance of Bella into their lives, he suggests that she goes to live with the Denali Coven, their "cousins", up in Alaska. Luna had only met Tanya and Kate in passing, but not the others. Though they were nice enough, and Luna really needed to get out of Forks.
And so Luna heads off to Denali, not expecting to find love in the grief of losing her dear mother.
