PRESENT TIME
BLAIR
Six years ago, I was taken from everything I knew and loved to become something I didn't want to be.
A princess. I was given to a common family as a baby when the enemy was after me, and lived there for ten years. My younger sister there was my best friend, and I haven't seen her since the day I left.
I remember the day I came 'home'.
I walked through the huge, white palace doors. They were intimidating. This whole palace was intimidating, and huge. And not my home.
I was taken from my home, where my sister was. But she wasn't really my sister at all.
I was a princess, and my real parents were king and queen of the country I've always lived in.
I don't have any siblings here and it's rather lonely. I don't like it.
When I first arrived, I was amazed. The high walls with engraved pictures and words were mesmerizing.
There were servants rushing about, willing to obey my every command and waiting on me hand and foot.
I was living the dream of any ordinary ten year old. And I should've been great full. But all I could think about was Abi.
I missed her so and its only been about six hours since a castle driver had come to pick me up and bring me here, and I'd only had a few minutes to say goodbye to the people I loved, before I was whisked away.
Now here I am, six years later, 16 years old and almost ready to become queen. My crowing ceremony was in a week, and I planned on making sure that Abigail and my host parents were coming.
I had to see them again.
'Blair!' A few maids came through the door, and began to dress me for the formal dinner. We were to discuss my marriage arrangement. I was too marry the prince of a nearby palace. I'd only met him once, and he was handsome. But my heart was elsewhere. 'Darling, we need to make you look perfect for tonight.'
The maids bustled about my room, pulling together the perfect outfit.
They got me ready, and I looked into the mirror. I was dressed in a dark blue dress, that could be taken for purple in the right lighting.
It was a floor length gown that hugged in at my waist, but flowed out elegantly to the end. My redish-orange hair had its usual natural curl, but was pinned half up, half down.
A headband was tied horizontally across my head, so that is crossed my forehead, and it was the same color as the dress, but with sequins that sparkled only when reflected into the light.
As princess, I found I had higher powers. And not what you may be thinking.
A butler came in to lead my to the dining all, even though I knew the way perfectly well.
I walked out with him, he's my favorite butler. I can put my full trust in him, and he know things not even my parents know. And that they can never know.
Gerard, the butler, smiled knowingly at me, as he led me from the room, and down a familiar hall. But we did not go straight to the dining hall.
Gerard led me down a secret path on he, I and one other knew about.
That one Other was who we were meeting up with. Well, who I was meeting.
I turned into a hidden room, and there he was. Sitting on his usual chair on the couch. I ran over and he stood, embracing me tightly.
I hugged him back, inhaling his lovely scent of faint cologne mixed with mint.
'Burke' I breathed out, so relieved to be with him again. 'I've missed you so much'
'I've missed you too, Blair.' He said back, and I knew he meant it, 'it's been to long this time, but with your crowning ceremony coming up, I've had to be more cautious sneaking in.'
'I know. And I don't want to go to this dinner tonight.' I said, complaining, 'We have to discuss my marriage arrangement with that horrid prince.'
I wrinkled my nose in disgust, at him. He was terribly arrogant, and thought he ruled the world.
Burke is the only thing good that had come out of this castle. He lives in a small cottage right near the castle, and ever since me wet the first time I knew I loved him.
I was walking down the street, taking in my new home.
Technically it wasn't new, as I had been here for 4 years, but the enemy had only just been defeated, and I was only now allowed out of the castle.
I passed a small village, and saw a boy about my age playing ball in the park.
He had a mess of curly hair on top of his head, and brilliant green eyes.
I walked by the park, watching him as I did, and he looked up from his game as he saw me.
We locked eyes, and I couldn't seem to pull away. They were such a deep green, I could get lost in them.
But I pulled away, as he ran closer. He stuck his hand out in front of my, and smiled the cutest smile, while I shook his hand.
'Hello princess, I'm Harry' he said, still smiling. I smiled back.
'Blair'
The reason nobody can know of our love, is that he is a commoner. And he is covered in tattoos.
When we first met, at fourteen, he had none.
But as he grew up, he got them. When his mother died he got her birthdate on his shoulder. All of his tattoos have deeper meanings, and I appreciate and love every single one.
But my own mother does not.
She has never liked him, ever. And I don't know why.
ABIGAIL
I opened the wooden door to our fairly small home, and stepped inside. I could hear the sound of my little sister blasting her music from her bedroom.
Six years ago, my older sister by one year left our family. But it wasn't her choice.
She was never my real sister, but we were keeping her safe from the enemies of the country we live in. She is the princess.
We were so close. Then one day, she tells me everything, then leaves. And I haven't seen her since.
I know my parents haven't forgotten her, and neither have I, but we don't talk about it.
Blair was ten when she left, and I was nine.
Now I'm 15, and she's supposed to be 16.
Bella, my younger sister, is 13. We're two years apart, and not as close as Blair and I ever were.
But I love her, all the same.
Her music taste is just one of the many things about a younger sister that can annoy you.
