Turning over and waking up in the morning, still wearing my clothes from yesterday; I feel like absolute shit! I'm exhausted mentally, emotionally and physically from the events of the previous day and I'm pretty certain I look like a raccoon from all the crying I did after the whole Kelley thing. Now, that I've had a bit of time to think things over, I know I overreacted but, in my defence, I live in a perpetual state of fight and or flight and last night, flight mode was in full effect. I really should apologize to my friends for being a downer last night.
The sun is already out, and knowing Chrissy as I do, she's no doubt already been up for hours. As I get some clean clothes, my stomach grumbles and I realize that I haven't eaten since yesterday afternoon. Grabbing my toiletry bag, I head to the bathroom for a long shower. Once, I'm cleaned up and dressed, I add a fresh coat of makeup before heading downstairs to find the girls are sitting and waiting for me.
"Oh my God, it's about time you woke up, we're all starving and were waiting for you to get breakfast."
"Best sleep I've had in awhile. I'm sorry about last night, guys; I'm not sure what all came over me, I just knew that I needed to get out of there and fast."
"You know you can talk to us about your feelings, right?"
I shrug, "I don't even know what I'm feeling the majority of the time, let alone how to talk about it. I'm just not good with that stuff, you guys know that."
"We do but perhaps there's a certain brunette with a killer smile who deserves another chance."
"Maybe. I'll think about it, okay? Can we get something to eat now, because I'm suffering from a pretty major case of caffeine withdrawal."
They all chuckle and stand up, Maria stands in place, "I should probably send my parents a quick message and let them know where to find us."
"You can type and walk, Mia; let's go!"
"Hold your horses, I'm just about done."
Maria sends a quick message to her parents, but also at the same time sends another message to Kelley asking her to meet them at the Waffle House down the street.
At the restaurant, the girls and I laugh and have fun like we normally do in each other's company. The front door opens behind them and in comes Kelley along with a group of guys and girls and they find a booth across the restaurant and place their orders with the waiter. I'm sitting with my back towards the door, and am oblivious to the fact that Kelley is also in the restaurant watching my every move. Throughout their entire meal, Maria and Maggie notice
Kelley looking towards the table as if she is asking for permission to come over.
Finishing off the last drip of coffee in her cup, Maria stands up, "I'm just going to find our server and sort out the bill."
Maggie catching the cue also stands up, "I need to go the washroom, Chris can you come with me?"
"Why? Do, you need someone to hold your hand while you go? Because, I'm not down for that."
Maggie shakes her head, "There's a sketchy looking guy over that way and I don't want to go alone and Joey's not done eating yet."
"Fine, I'll be your bodyguard."
The girls get up and make like they are headed over to the register and washroom respectively, but stop at Kelley's table on the way.
"Now's your choice to talk to her; don't screw it up or hurt her, because, if you do, you'll have us to deal with. We'll be waiting outside."
