V - Aftermath

3rd Person POV:

The police sirens wailed as police cars drove to the neighbor's house. Police men got out and ran inside the house.

Kevin and Buzz looked through the window of their own house and watched what was happening.

About a few seconds later, Marv and Harry were taken outside in cuffs.

P(oliceman)1: Nice move. Always leaving the water running? Now we know each and every house you hit.

Harry glared at Marv before shaking his head as they walked to the police car. 

P2: Hey, you know we've been looking for you two guys for a long time.

M: Yeah. But remember. We're the Wet Bandits. Wet Bandits! W-E-T-

H: Shut up! Shut up!

Harry kicked Marv in the hip twice, causing him to lose balance and fall into the car as the officer pushed him into the car as well.

P1: Come on!

H: Hands off the head, pal!

P1: Come on.

The police shut the car door and backed up, giving enough time for Harry to glare at Kevin and have the color in his face wash away the moment he saw Buzz, and for Kevin and Buzz to smirk, chuckle, and wave goodbye to him.

---The Next Morning---

Kevin had slept in Buzz and Jeff's room again. He woke up and looked out the window, becoming immediately ecstatic. He jumped up and jumped on Buzz's bed, shaking him awake. When he woke up, he stopped Kevin by grabbing his arms.

'What, trout sniffer...?'

"It's Christmas! Everyone might be home!"

Kevin quickly got off of Buzz and ran out the door while Buzz stretched. Kevin ran downstairs and started checking all the rooms for any sight of the rest of his family.

"Mom?!"

Kevin reached the living room and saw everything still in place from how it was when him and Buzz set it up. The small Christmas tree with a bunch of ornaments and lights, the milk and cookies on a little table, the stockings with everyone's names on them, and the presents staying under the tree and unopened. Kevin frowned as Buzz came downstairs and stood by Kevin. He sighed.

'Sorry, Kev.'

Kevin nodded slightly. They went over to the sofa next to the Christmas tree and sat down. Kevin looked over and was about to pull Buzz into a tight hug when-

?: Kevin? Buzz?

Kevin and Buzz froze in place before slowly turning around and looking behind them, seeing their mother. They both stood up and stared at her as she stared back. She smiled.

K: Merry Christmas, my babies...

They stayed there for a moment, not believing their own eyes. Kate's face drooped as she stepped closer.

K: Oh, Buzz... Oh, Kevin... I'm so sorry...

Kevin started smiling as he ran up to her and hugged her, Buzz following shortly after. Her happiness returned and she hugged them both tightly. She kissed both their cheeks and they hugged for a little longer before both Kevin and Buzz pulled away slightly.

"Where's everybody else?"

Kate frowned.

K: Oh. Baby, they couldn't come... They wanted to so bad-

The door suddenly opened and Buzz, Kevin, and Kate immediately turned to the door in shock. Peter, Linnie, Jeff, and Heather entered the house and everyone hugged and greeted each other, everyone mainly going to hug Kevin and Kate first since Buzz didn't want to be hugged. Peter put Kevin down and smiled at him.

P: You okay?

"Yeah."

'Hey Kev. It's pretty cool neither of us managed to burn the house down.'

"Thanks, Buzz. You too."

'Thanks.'

Kevin nodded and high fived Buzz.

K: Wait a minute, how did you guys get home?

P: Oh.

Peter walked over and hugged Kate.

P: We took the morning flight. Remember, the one you didn't want to wait for?

Everyone laughed a bit.

K: Well someone has to find an open store. We don't even have milk here.

"...Me and Buzz went shopping yesterday."

Buzz nodded while everyone else went silent.

J(eff): You two... went shopping?

'We got the milk, eggs, and fabric softener.'

Kate and Peter smiled happily.

K:...What?

P: No kiddin'? What funny guys. What else did you two do while we were away?

"Just..."

'Hung around.'

The family laughed as they walked in different directions, leaving Buzz and Kevin alone. Peter walked into the living room and spotted something on the ground. He picked it up and realized it was a gold tooth. He observed it in confusion.

P: Honey? What's this?

He raised an eyebrow before shrugging and taking it with him.

Meanwhile, Kevin slowly went over to the living room window and peaked outside the window.

"Buzz. Come here."

'Jeez... What, trout snif-...?'

Buzz shut himself up as he looked out the window. They saw Marley pulling his son and his daughter-in-law in for a hug before pulling his granddaughter in for a hug shortly afterwards. Kevin and Buzz smiled at the sight. As Marley held his granddaughter in an embrace, he noticed Buzz and Kevin watching them. He then passed a wave to them, expressing a lot of gratitude through his hand gesture. Both Kevin and Buzz grinned and waved back at Marley, happy that they were the cause of this change. Marley put his granddaughter down before the four of them headed back to their house and away from the snow and cold. Kevin and Buzz were so caught up in the moment that they almost didn't hear Jeff yell.

J: BUZZ! KEVIN! WHAT DID YOU TWO DO TO MY SECRET STASH!

Kevin and Buzz nearly choked on air.

'IT'S MY STASH TOO!.... KEVIN!!'

Kevin laughed as he ran upstairs, forcing Buzz to follow behind him. They then raced each other to get upstairs to go clean up the mess Kevin had made.
