Beck's head was pounding, feeling like a herd of rhinoceroses was trampling his brain. He groaned and rolled over, the empty vodka bottle beside him crashing to the floor and amplifying the pain.

When he finally opened his eyes, he felt a pair of eyes studying him closely. Jami stood at the end of his bed, arms crossed and a scowl firmly pressed on her face.

"I tried calling you," she stated flatly.

"Mhm," he mumbled, pulling the blanket over his head to block the light streaming through the window.

"It's two in the afternoon."

"Is it?" he asked, annoyed. "How did you get in?"

She held up the key he had given her months ago so she could feed his cat when he was gone.

"Right," he mumbled. "But why are you here?"

"Well," she sat on the edge of the bed, "you promised me you'd help me move into my new apartment today. I texted and called you several times, but you didn't answer." She explained as if telling a story. "I called your brother, and he said he hadn't heard from you, so I decided to come over and make sure you weren't backing out of your promise."

"Surprise, surprise, your truck's here, but you wouldn't answer the door after I rang the bell a hundred times. So I went home, grabbed the key, and now we're here."

"What has you so down, anyway?" she asked suddenly, her gaze sharpening as she finally noticed his condition.

"Your sister," he muttered.

"Miya? What happened? Did she pick her stuff up last night? I told her I dropped it off here on my way to work."

He shrugged. "Probably. I don't know. Maybe it all went by so fast."

"What went by fast?" she glared at him, clearly frustrated with his unhelpful responses.

He snored loudly, pretending to be asleep again, but Jami wasn't having it. She grabbed a pillow and smacked the back of his head.

"What, Jami?" he snapped, irritation bubbling up.

"Jeez, Beck," her face turned serious. "You're fucked up right now. How much did you drink? And why are you getting drunk on a weekday?"

He sat up slowly, rubbing his eyes. "Miya came over last night," he admitted. "We don't see each other much anymore ever since Boyd started his new job. He's so busy, and... whatever.

Okay? Jami nodded for him to continue.

We got caught up in the moment, it doesn't matter anymore, leave me alone now I want to take a shower.

No I won't leave you alone Jami persisted. I want to hear what happened.

God Jami he groaned i love your sister I've loved her for years I finally told her last night. She more or less said the same thing to me you can imagine what happened after that.

First off I've known you liked her since the day you carried her bike home for her because it got a flat and second off eww did you guys.. ya know. She wiggled her brows.

No we didn't He showed up like the fungus he is and got in her head,

Boyd? Jami spat the name like it was acid. He couldn't give two fucks about her I see him parading his little hoes at work all the time.

Never the less he was pounding on my door. Told Miya to get in the car, after he slapped her of course.

The fuck? Jami shot to her feet. Did you call the cops. No he admitted, they wouldn't have done anything anyway. She left with him willingly and they are married.

Jami paced the room. So what happened next. She left with him I tried to call her she text me to never try to talk to her or see her again then blocked my number.

That is why I am hungover at two in the afternoon. Because the woman I am in love with chose a verbally and possibly physically abusive man over me.

How do you know she was the one who text you? Jami demanded.

She's the only one who knows my full name she called me by name in the text like she knew I would not believe it was her unless she did.

He must of forced her!! Jami insisted, I'll call her later when I know he's not around. But for now let's get some food in you some pain killers.

You need to be in top shape to go rescue my sister from the dragons den later.

Miya stared at her sister's name on the phone screen. She knew if she didn't answer the stubborn girl would show up on her door step.

She hit the green answer button and forced her voice to be cheery, hey Jami! What's up? How's moving into the new apartment going?

Jami scoffed on the other end of the line, you're a horrible actress Miya, besides even if you weren't Beck told me everything.

A lump formed in Miyas throat. Oh? She forced her voice to sound natural, he doesn't believe me but I know it's not true, Boyd forced you to text Beck what you did last night didn't he.

Miyas brain screamed for her to say yes but she remembered Boyd's words before he left earlier this morning.

"Don't even think about running or telling your sister anything, I own you I will hurt her in ways you can imagine, and Beck well... if I ever Hear you even mentioned his name ever again I know guys who can handle him accordingly"

Miya? you still there Jami asked.

Ya I'm here she responded. So tell me it's not true, Beck and I can come pick you up right now.

Miyas heart broke, at the words she was about to say knowing she could never take them back.

I'm sorry Jami but it is true. Boyd and I are working on our relationship. We don't need. She paused searching for the right word. A distraction.

That's all I am to you? Becks voice was now heard angrily over the line, a distraction?

You told me you loved me last night Miya, you can't deny that.

You're like a brother to me Beck! She rushed the words out of her mouth, you're the one who said you loved me.

He laughed sarcastically, sisters don't let their brothers  touch them the way you'll me touch you last night.

Forget it Beck she choked out, forget me.
