DISCLAIMER - Ruby Rose is one year younger than Winter Schnee in this fic. Yes she is older than Yang but I have not yet decided if her relationship will be a positive one with Yang and Tai or a bad one. This is my first story iv written in six years sorry in advance if its rough and hard to read. I just couldnt find an AU winterose fic that had all I wanted in a little package for myself .
Ruby sat hunched over her workbench inside of her office in the Atlesian military workshop fiddling with a new design for Winter's Sword separation mechanism. She had been brainstorming on a way to increase the durability of the blades when in split form without increasing the overall weight of the blade. Being so engrossed in her work she failed to notice her lab door open and the quiet click of heeled boots walking inaside.
" hmmm maybe... if I were to try some kind of dust metal alloy."
Slim strong arms slipped around Ruby's shoulders from behind pulling her into an embrace. Speaking in a low tone "How long are you going to spend inside this workshop today? It is almost midnight and we have a big day tomorrow and you haven't even packed anything yet."
Ruby jumps a little at the feeling and being knocked out of her zone but immediately relaxed lying head back into the chest of the woman behind her and closed her eyes taking a slow deep breath. "I had no idea it had become so late. I'm so sorry Winter! On the bright side though, I think I found a way to make your sword blades stronger without increasing their overall weight."
Winter's mouth spreads into a little smile "That is great, my brilliant little engineer! But you will have to work on it once we get to Vale, now come along it's time for bed my little reaper."
Winter took a step back spinning Ruby around on her stool and proceeded to take her hands pulling her towards the lab door. Ruby gained a big dopey smile on her face while gazing at their linked hands thinking about how she got to be this lucky.
