"Oh, please, let's not get into that. Anyway, I just wanted to give you a heads-up before I bring the kids up," Jack said hastily, in his usual manner.

"Alright, thanks for the heads-up. It allows your father and me to—" Emily's sentence was cut short.

"No problem, Mom, but I need to pick up the kids soon," Jack interjected.

"But doesn't school end around 3:25 pm?" Emily's tone held a hint of doubt.

"Love you, see you later," Jack swiftly concluded the call.

He had anticipated a different outcome, but at least his parents were informed. He found it surprising that he hadn't been questioned about returning to town without prior notice. Hmm, an unexpected thought crossed his mind, sending a chill down his spine. A gut feeling told him he would indeed be questioned. Stepping out of the car, he made his way towards the Garden Cafe.

The garden cafe, nestled among verdant foliage, exuded a peaceful allure. Tables, adorned with intricate floral displays, were scattered along a winding cobblestone path, each offering a charming nook to bask in the natural surroundings. Delicate fairy lights swayed in the gentle breeze, casting a cozy radiance upon the idyllic scene. The air was filled with the intoxicating scent of blossoms, accompanied by the soothing rustle of leaves. Overhead, a canopy of trees provided dappled shade, creating a haven from the outside world's hustle and bustle. Amidst the tranquil setting, the soft hum of conversation and the clinking of teacups added to the cafe's welcoming atmosphere, enticing visitors to linger and indulge in the moment.

Jack admired the careful attention to detail in the cafe's decor, appreciating how they had transformed the space. The scent of blossoms filled the air, creating a comforting atmosphere that beckoned visitors to unwind and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It was the kind of place where one could simply sit back, relax, and watch the world carry on with its daily activities.

Jack politely ordered, "I'll have a medium cappuccino with lactose-free milk and a double shot of vanilla syrup, please. And, could I also get a lamington and a Ganmain pie?"  After paying for his order, finding a quiet spot, Jack settled in, enjoying the view of the traffic passing by amidst the backdrop of the forest and distant houses.

Shortly after, Jack received his order and settled in, enjoying the serene ambiance filled with the soft murmur of conversation and the gentle clinking of cups. While nibbling on his lunch, he observed the traffic passing by, though his mind was preoccupied with thoughts of his own.

As Jack took the final bite of his lunch, a notification popped up on his phone, signalling a new text message.

"Hey, are you certain about having the kids? Maybe you simply wanted some alone time with your parents. It's alright if that's the case; I don't mind."

Receiving Elsa's text, Jack chuckled, noting her caring nature. He replied, "Hey, it's all good having the kids, especially now. I'm just not in the mood for some alone time with my parents yet. And before you ask, yes, I am indeed dodging a few questions from them."

Right after sending his message, Jack got a reply. "Got it, just checking. I'll see you and the kids later tonight," Elsa confirmed. Jack kept his expression neutral but shook his head lightly. Rising from his seat, he headed for his car.

"Well, well, well, look who's back. Didn't think I'd see you here again," a surprised voice greeted Jack as he neared.

In Elsa's home

He's as stubborn as an old man, despite being in his thirties. Anyway, it's a good idea for the kids to spend time with their grandparents. Alright, let's wrap up some cleaning.
