The Great War of Ayvena is a time of desperation. Humans and immortals alike have put aside their differences to join forces in a taut allyship to become one army, at the command of King Solomon. Their mission: to cease the needless bloodshed from the ruthless Grayle.
Lorna Grey is one of the many human healers blessed by the goddess, Dawn, who has been conscripted into the war effort. Eager to prove herself and amend mistakes on the battlefield, she helps an unusually handsome soldier and takes him back to the human-immortal encampment. However, when she notices there is something strange about this soldier, it is already too late!
Captain Hayvard is a deserter of the army, not wanting to participate any further in the bloodshed that comes with war. When his path collides with Lorna's, she offers him the perfect excuse for escape. But as the Grayle army closes in, his time to escape with his life intact begins to run short. His only choice is to run far away—taking Lorna with him!
As Lorna and the former captain, Hayvard, embark upon a reckless plan of fleeing Ayvena's shores to less war-torn lands, unknown to them is that Hayvard's careless actions have landed them both in serious peril.
Forced to battle for not only their country but their lives, Lorna begrudgingly has to work with the enemy to survive—only, it will come at a cost!
