"I can't believe I got so lucky to find someone like you in my life," I whispered, looking at the most beautiful boy I had ever seen.
I reached out to grab his hand and pulled him closer to me. His head rested on my chest, and I knew that he could hear my heart beating faster as he looked up at me. His gorgeous green orbs sparkled brighter as they met my dark blue orbs.
"I can't believe that someone as perfect as you would ever like someone like me," he confessed, looking down at the ground as if afraid to meet my gaze.
I placed my hand under his chin and gently lifted his face closer to mine, brushing my lips against his. I wanted him to know that he was the only person I could ever love and cherish, the only one I dreamed of spending my life with. I wanted him to feel the depth of my love for him.
As he pulled away from my lips, uncertainty flickered in his eyes. It looked like he wanted to say something but was too afraid to say it. He took a deep breath before uttering the words that I always longed to hear come out of his mouth.
"I love you," He said, before looking down again as if anticipating rejection. I could feel the fear that he had about how I would respond to his confession. That fear would soon be replaced with excitement when he heard what I was about to say.
"I love you too," I replied, bringing his lips closer to mine once again.
His legs wrapped around my waist as I carried him to the bedroom to show him how much he meant to me. Lowering him onto the bed, I showered him with affection to assure him that every part of him was cherished and loved.
After finishing the chapter that I was reading, I decided to call it a night and closed the book. Placing it on my nightstand, I glanced at my clock to check the time. It read 11:00 pm, so I began to get ready for bed.
I wish I could continue reading but if I'm late to work again, Cindy would probably fire me, I thought as grabbed my toothbrush to begin brushing my teeth.
As I brushed, I started to wonder what it would be like to have someone confess their love to me. I wondered what it would be like to have someone who wanted to show me that I was the only person they loved and with whom they wanted to spend the rest of their life. I wanted to know what it felt like to be in love with someone. It would probably never happen, though I wished for it. Who would ever want to be in love with a 25 year old who had never experienced it before?
After I finished brushing my teeth, I looked into the mirror to see why I was so unlovable. Maybe it was my pale skin that made me look like a ghost, my plain dark brown hair or my brown eyes that looked like the color of shit. I glanced down at my stomach, hoping it wasn't because I was a little overweight. I knew that I'm overweight for a man who is 5'9, but it can't be the main reason why no one ever had feelings for me. I put my arms around my stomach and sucked it in before walking away from the mirror and going to my bed.
Before going to sleep, I decided to check my phone for any important events I might have missed while reading my book. As I scrolled, I came across a video of one of my friends proposing to their girlfriend. My stomach churned as I continued to watch the video. I was genuinely happy for my friend, but I couldn't help but feel like I was being left behind by everyone else in my friend group. I quickly congratulated her before putting my phone down, not wanting to see any more happy couples.
She's a year younger than me and already engaged, while I can't even get someone to think of me as more than a friend. I thought as I rolled over to my side.
"I don't have time to mope around, I need to be at work around 8 tomorrow morning or else I'm going to be searching for another job," I said out loud when I realized that all I've been thinking about was my non-existent love life.
As I closed my eyes, I pictured myself as the beautiful boy from the book I was read today. The boy who found someone who fell deeply in love with them and never wanted to let them go. The scenes of the book replayed in my head as I imagined myself as the beautiful boy, wrapping my legs around my partner's waist as we made our way to the bedroom, feeling just how loved I am.
"Welp, it's another night of picturing myself experiencing something that will never happen to me" I whispered while I fall into a deeper sleep.
