—Orpheus—
"This is where they keep prisoners?" I question, we're sitting in the branches of a tall tree over looking a huge grey building with a huge barbed wire fence around it. "Yes, this is the Rose Wood Penitentiary male criminals who committed live serving levels of crime are sent here" she explains. "So any prisoner we see outside is fair game" she finished, "how will we know if they are a prisoner or not?" I ask. "They'll be wearing a gray jumpsuit and a depressing look on their faces" she answers.
We sit in silence, waiting for a prisoner to come out to the yard. "I can't remember the last time I hunted for myself" I admit, "what do you mean?"
She says, confusion evident in her voice. "In Blood Moon the military is the ones who "hunt" and even then all they're doing is picking them up from a human prison. The humans wouldn't even fight, they had already excepted their fate. And it didn't help their suffering from the balls we throw" I explain. "What balls?" Questions Josephine."We throw blood balls, basically all the nobility goes to my home, Castle Lună de Sânge and we impale the prisoners on large spikes and we stick tube into them to suck all their blood out and we combine the blood with alcohol and get drunk while dancing to the loudest music to drown out the noise of their screams of agony, it's quite fun. " I explain, she gave me a blank but horrified look. "Why do I kinda want to go to one?" She laughs. I laugh but she quickly puts a finger on my lips while turning her head away from me to the prison.
"It's time" she whispers, I look out to the prison yard to see one lone man in a gray suit. "He seems to be trying to escape we need to get him, now" I whisper. We both jump out the tree, once we landed on ground we started to sprint I was a little bit ahead of her (I guess cause she half human). We scaled the large metal fence with ease and threw ourselves over the barbed wire. "Make sure to dodge the light" whispers Josephine, I nod as we inch closer to the unsuspecting prisoner.
He was trying to scale up a brick wall in the unlit area of the yard. "What do I do?" Whispers Josephine, "the exact thing you to when you're eating wolves" I whisper back. She nods, guilt evident in her beautiful eyes. I grab her hand, "you said that the men locked up here are here for life. So we're probably avenging a poor soul that man tormented" I reassure. She gave me a soft smile, "alright, we better get on with it" she whispers. "I'll start" I say, she nodded.
The man had made little effort so it was quite easy to tackle him, "what the fuck!?" Screams the man but he was quickly cut off by me biting his neck. I suck feverishly, I forgot how hungry I really am, but sometimes felt off. Josephine is not eating, I look back to see her watching me, terrified. "Come over here Josephine, it's alright. Remember what I said? We're helping a poor soul find closure" I reassure. She hesitated a bit before walking over to me and the less than half dead body.
She knees down next next to his arm and timidly picks it up, she hesitates "go on" I whisper. She brings the limp arm up to her lips before biting down. It took her a moment before she started sucking feverishly, I laugh. "Really no substitute for the real thing, right Josephine?" I laugh, she gives me a dirty look before continuing to eat the man. "Who's there!?" Screams a voice, "shit shit SHIT!" whisper-screams Josephine. She grabs my sleeve and starts to run.
