Author’s POV
Flashback
Ravindra Jadeja was the son of Anirudh Jadeja, a well-known businessman in India. Anirudh had a loving wife and six sons, with Ravindra being the eldest. Since childhood, Anirudh had always intended for his eldest son to take over the empire he built. However, unlike his other sons, whom he adored, he was always strict with Ravindra. He didn’t know why, but something in him kept reminding him that Ravindra needed to be disciplined.
But what about little Ravi?
The name Ravindra Jadeja itself exuded royalty. He always wanted to be a good son, but he also longed for a childhood where he could play and enjoy life like his siblings. However, his father never allowed him to go out and have fun. While his brothers played, he was forced to stay home and learn about his father’s legacy. He could never understand why he was the only one burdened with responsibilities.
More than anything, Ravi just wanted his father’s time and attention. Even when he found his father’s business lectures boring, he still cherished every moment spent with him. He was fascinated by how his father could be so kind and loving to his brothers yet cold and indifferent towards him.
As time passed, Ravi grew into an 18-year-old young man. He had learned everything necessary to become the heir to his father’s empire. But was it enough?
One morning, while the family was having breakfast, Ravi decided to speak up.
"Father," he called out.
His father, who had been calm moments ago, immediately tensed at his son's voice.
"I want to go somewhere," Ravi said.
"No," his father replied firmly.
"But why? Don’t I deserve some freedom? I always have to work or study. Why can’t I go out or spend time with my friends like Virat?" Ravi protested.
"Ravindra, you are not going anywhere. That is final. If you defy me, you know what will happen," his father declared in a stern voice.
Ravi clenched his fists and stood up from his seat.
"I want to see what you’ll do if I deny you," he said before storming out.
That night, at 11 PM…
Ravi returned home, only to find his father waiting for him. Without a word, Anirudh walked up to him and slapped him hard across the face.
"What do you think of yourself, Ravindra Jadeja? That you can disobey me and do as you please? No! You are my eldest son. You are supposed to set an example for your brothers—to teach them how to be disciplined men. What lesson do you want them to learn from your behavior, you rascal?"
He grabbed Ravi’s arm and dragged him toward the basement. Without hesitation, he pushed him inside and locked the door.
Ravi looked at his father with tear-filled eyes. Was this really his father?
So, just because he was the eldest son, he had to carry all the burdens on his shoulders?
His father left him there and later ordered his wife, Rekha, not to give him food for three days.
"But this isn’t right, Anirudh," his mother protested.
"I am doing this for his own good. Do not interfere, Rekha," he said firmly.
His brothers stood nearby, silently witnessing everything.
Their father had all the power now, and they had no choice but to wait for their time. They wanted to help Ravi, but none of them dared to disobey their father.
