He's Always There// Matthew Espinosa

"Okay, I'll just come over at 6," my boyfriend Zac said.

"Yep, see you then," I said.

"Can't wait," he said. I could practically see the smirk on his face. I hung up with a smile.

I decided to get some coffee at the local coffee shop down the street. I grabbed my wallet and keys off the counter and drove to the coffee shop.

"Regular coffee with whip cream on top, please," I told the lady.

"It's going to be 3.48, mam," she said. I handed her a five and she gave me my change.

I grabbed my drink and sat down at a table near the window. As I was drinking my coffee, I saw Zac sitting at a booth with someone. I could only see him and not the person he was with. I decided to walk over and say hi. I got out of my seat and started to walk over until I saw him kiss someone. Immediately tears started to well in my eyes. I watched as him and a girl got up, I didn't move. He saw me and started to walk over but I backed away. Tears were streaming down my face.

"I'm sor-" he started.

"Just don't," I said as I pushed him away.

"I can explain-"

"Oh, no need. I saw everything, we're done," I said. "And don't even bother coming tonight," I said as I ran out of the shop. I drove as fast as I could. When I got home, I plopped on the couch and cried. I can't believe that just happened.

I heard a knock on the door as I was eating a 12 ounce tub of ice cream. I set it down on the table and walked to the door with ice cream all over my face and eyes all red and puffy. I opened the door to see my bestfriend Matthew standing at the door.

"Hey Y/N-," he started. "Are you okay? Who did this to you? If it was Zac I'm going to kick his ass."

All I did was nod. He walked in a engulfed me in a hug. I let it all out.

"I-I saw him at th-the coffee shop with a g-girl and he k-kissed her," I said. I started sobbing. We walked to the couch and he hugged me again as we sat.

By the time I had calmed down a little, his shirt was soaked.

"I'm sorry about your shirt, I'm such a mess," I said.

"No worries," Matt said.

For the rest of the night we ordered a pizza and watched Netflix. I was laying on his chest as I started to fall asleep.

When I woke up, Matthew was still here, asleep with me. He looked so peaceful when he slept. I gave him a kiss on the cheek and fell back asleep.

When I woke up again, he was gone. I started to get a little sad. He must have left this morning. I checked the time and it was 10 o'clock. Matt is such a great friend staying over and helping me through this. Wait, Matt is the one who stayed over and helped me and he has been there for me for so many years. He cared for me last night. When I kissed him on the cheek, I felt butterflies in my stomach. Zac was never the one, it was Matthew. I had to see him again. I texted him right away.

I quickly put on some nicer clothes than pajama pants and a t-shirt. I drove down to the coffee shop and saw Matthew standing at the doors. I quickly parked and ran up to Matt. I jumped onto him and did the unexpected: I kissed him. He immediately kissed back as he wrapped his hands around my waist. It was very passionate. I broke the kiss and said, "You're the one." He smiled at me and kissed me again.
