Emperor is returning... Emperor is returning...he is coming back...finally, finally he is returning... Maids, servants,slaves announced running inside the palace and from there into the harem,most prominent amongst them was Asfand khan,the chief eunuch of zenana.
Hearing the shouting and loud voices ladies of zenana came out in the courtyard and balconies of their rooms.In the centre of the courtyard stood Hamida Banu Begum,the Queen-Mother, beside her was Gulbadan Begum her sister-in-law and aunt to the emperor.
And when they heard the news smiles spread over their lips.
Mallika, Mallika..it's a good news.. Emperor is coming,he is coming back.he'll be here anytime. Asfand khan, the chief eunuch of zenana told the Queen-Mother Hamida Banu Begum.
The messenger has reached the palace with this news..The emperor has set out for Lahore a few days ago.He is just a few miles away now.. Asfand khan further added.
Hamida begum took off the gold bangles she was wearing amd handed over to Asfand khan who very gradely took them and ran off to spread the news,his next stop was towards the Chambers of Ruqaiya Sultan Begum,the Empress-consort of king Akbar.
But little did he know that she has already heard the news from the balcony of her room. Ruqaiya Sultana stood at balcony of her room,her hands clutching the wooden railing tightly.
She went back inside her room to collect herself before coming infront of the Queen-Mother.
