Idiots In Love

Gemini has been friends with Fourth since forever, well, maybe not forever, but for a very long time that it feels like forever. They met when they were in second grade and ended up as seat buddies, and before he knew it, they were actually friends.

It was in the third grade when Fourth announced to everyone that Gemini was his best friend. Gemini never had someone he considered a best friend before. Sure, he had a lot of friends around that time. He was a very sociable child, but he never really had a best friend. In fact, around that age, he didn't understand what it meant when someone was another person's best friend.

When he asked his mother later on that day, his mother had answered, "it's when someone is your favourite person. So amgonst all of your friends that person is the one you like the most."

"Like Uncle Tay and P'New?" 8 year old Gemini had asked.

"Well, sort of honey. So that means that Fourth considers you to be his favourite person." His mother had replied.

Gemini never really had a favourite person outside his family members, his mother being the most favourite one, so he had to think about it really hard. Was Fourth his favourite person?

Amongst all his friends Fourth was the one who would take out all the vegetables in his food and replace them with grilled pork. Fourth was the one who would side with him whenever their group of friends were deciding on which game to play. Fourth always brought him his favourite soda, and Fourth would peel oranges for him because Gemini hated the smell of citrus on his hands.

After thinking about all of this. Gemini decided from that day onward Fourth was his favourite person and thus his best friend.

When they reached the 7th grade, they were inseparable to the point that both their families were mashed together. They would have family meals at least twice a month, and they would sometimes have family holidays once a year together. Fourth's mother treated Gemini like one of her children, and Gemini was pretty sure that his mother liked Fourth more.

Their mothers would sometimes rotate in picking them up from their various extracurricular activities. They had a lot of them. They were active kids with vast interests, so they participated in almost all of them, much to their mothers' exasperation.

They were both athletic, so they were in the soccer and basketball team, Fourth being the soccer captain and Gemini being the basketball captain. They also played badminton and were in the swimming team. When they got to high school, Gemini joined the music club, and Fourth joined the Muay Thai club. Those were the only two activies they had where they were not together.

It was in the 10th grade when Gemini experienced jealousy. It was a foreign feeling he had never experienced before, and he genuinely thought he might have a medical condition. That was until his older cousin Joong explained what that feeling was.

So what had happened was that Fourth left the Muay Thai club to join the science club. Which was strange because Fourth had never expressed interest in that, Gemini knew Fourth was smart, and it was no surprise that he got good grades in all his subjects, but he was never that interested in science. Just like Gemini had predicted, Fourth joined the science club because he had a massive crush on this girl Angela.

Angela was a nice girl, kind, and others would consider her funny so Gemini could understand why Fourth would be interested in her. What annoyed him was that Fourth would constantly talk about her, gushing about how "amazing" Angela was or how "cute" she is. But Gemini was a good friend, so he would tolerate all the gushing and listen to his friend.

Now, the jealousy experience was when Fourth actually started dating Angela. The girl was everywhere, and it seemed like Fourth was giving her all of his attention. Whenever Gemini would be around them watching them be sickly sweet to each other he would feel nauseated, his chest would feel constricted like there was a 600 pounds person sitting on it and like his brain has forgotten how breathing works.
