Charlotte woke up in her uncle Joe's old bed and sighed. Last night, she was almost a victim to a kidnapping. Walking to the kitchen, she saw her uncle Joe and grandmother.
" Good morning. How are you?" Joe asked.
"I'm alright. Did daddy find the guy yet?"
Joe's face fell. "No, I'm sorry."
"That's okay, he'll find him." she said.
That afternoon, snow started to sprinkle. Charlotte ran up to the window and stared at the small bits of snow in awe. Laura reluctantly let her play outside.
"Put your hat on!" she yelled from the kitchen.
She ran outside and giggled while snowflakes fell. Then, a man came up to her.
"Hello. What's your name?" he asked.
"Charlotte. Charlotte Hardy." she replied.
"What a pretty name! Well, I'll make sure to remember you when I move in the neighborhood."
He left and she went back to walking around. The snowflakes came to a halt and she tried to make the best out of the cold. In the front of the Hardy house stood a beautiful tree. She placed her feet gently on ledges and pulled herself up. When she slid down, the man was back.
"Hello?" she muttered in shock.
" Do you want to come help me move?" he asked.
"I'll have to ask my grandma,"
"No, its fine!" he snapped back. "You don't need to be afraid of me." the man held her wrist tightly.
At this point, Charlotte knew something was wrong. She tried to sprint to the door, but he picked her up.
"Uncle Joe!" she screamed at the top of her lungs hysterically.
Inside, Joe helped dry a dish. He was humming, but stopped when he heard something.
"Mom, did you hear that?" he asked.
"Uncle Joe!" she screamed again.
"Charlotte!" he exclaimed dropping the plate.
In a full sprint, he chased after the man holding his beloved niece. They turned a couple corners and he followed the scream. Then, he lost them.
He had no idea how he lost them, but he did. A van drove off and he quickly rushed back to the house. Laura's face was white as Joe called the police.
Frank turned on the road to where Charlotte would be. When he pulled in the driveway and saw the cops, his heart stopped. He found Joe on the porch with his head in his hands.
"Joe, where is she?" he asked.
"I tried. I tried to get her, Frank. He took Charlotte!" Joe sobbed.
He couldn't believe it. Frank walked up to Fenton.
"We have no leads, I'm sorry."
Just when he felt defeated, he got a phone call.
