Eclipse.

Oily blood was all they saw from their little sister, her body battered and broken beyond repair. They didn't notice the tears that stained their face, but they did notice Bloodmoon's smile, Ruin's distain, and Monty's tense body. They wanted to move, but they were frozen; they wanted to scream, to cry, to hit and hurt, but they couldn't. Memories flashed before them of the mind scape; why did this hurt more than when Old Moon abandoned them? Why was it more insufferable than the mind of someone itself? Why was it more painful than the many times they themself died?

...Was this what grief felt like...?

They couldn't help the smile that slowly crawled onto their face, the laughter that managed to escape their groggy throat; their tail as it slashed, their rays as they spun and clicked, their fanged teeth as it breathed open, their clawed fingers as they wiped their tears and chipped their own paint before opening wide.

They lost impulse control.

It all went by in a flash, Bloodmoon pinned to the ground by them before wires and metal escaped the now lifeless body under them. They stopped, staring at the red figure as their mechanical laughter died down. They paused, then glanced over to Earth's unmoving body not far from them. The next thing they knew they were cradling her body close, fingers fidgeting with her long hair as done when playfulness had taken over. But it would no longer be playful, they would no longer hear her talk and laugh and vent as they styled it, no longer see the cheerful smile on her face at the great job they had done; no longer get hugs of appreciation and respect and love of one they thought would hate them like the rest.

No longer feel the love they oh so desired, and had finally gained.

Their fists tightened, tail curling and swaying swiftly, as if not moving even for a moment would result in paralyzation. They were angry, angry at the world that they finally thought they could learn to love.

Angry at themself for not being fast enough. Not willing to hurt another Earth cared for in understanding that it would hurt her too, in knowing that Earth taught them that pain would not make them, or anyone, feel better.
And it didn't, not truly, it never did, but they couldn't think straight, their mind nothing but a haze. The anger built up in them, their breathing quickened and their pupils were sharper than ever seen before.

All they remembered then was their throat throbbing as they screamed at the top of their lungs.

They hated it.

They hated themself.

They hated everyone.

They hated the world.

They hated it all.

Present time. 1:35am. A couple months later.

Eclipse blankly watched as the flames rose into the night sky, people screaming and rushing out of the building, the sirens of authorities rushing to the rescue; it was music to their ears. It was the only thing that made them feel something from the everlasting numbness that since claimed their body, other than the self-inflicted slashes that adorned their wrists. Their feet swayed gently off the tree branch they were currently sitting upon, tail draped over beside them. Their eyes baggy from lack of sleep, pupils not as dilated as they used to be but not too sharp either.

Just...normal.

Their fingers slowly fidgeted in their lap as they watched, unfazed, at the scene before them. Everything was wrong, everything felt wrong. But, at the same time, it felt so...right.

"...They'll know true pain...they all will.."

I'm sorry, I had to. 😭
But I wanted to write this, and, yes, there is more to come.

!Spoiler!

I may or may not bring Earth back, we'll just see how this goes.
